Newb having a problem with VirtualDub

Postby lost virgin project » Sat Oct 14, 2006 2:43 am

I am trying to edit my first AMV, following VicBond007's how-to for creating your own source footage from dvds. Have the dvd, ripped it myself, etc. Wonderful.. except that when I try to load the .avs file I created in VirtualDub, it is okay for all of ten seconds before it crashes. The message I get is just the generic "VirtualDub.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows" with no further info available. Now, I realise that usually a crash is caused usually by codecs other plugins. However, I am such a noob that I don't know where to look to see which codec is the problem. I am fairly certain it isn't the file itself - I checked the .vob file and it works fine. So it must be the .avs file or one of the codecs, but I followed the instructions exactly, so I am at a bit of a loss. I am running Win2000, have the latest version of VirtualDub, and am running the program exactly as specified in the tutorial. If anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be most appreciated! Thanks!
