So, yeah, just finished watching it, and I really have to get this off my chest...

BEST ENDING EVER!!!

No spoilers, but it ended perfectly. This show really is amazing, and BONES has possibly outdone even Fullmetal Alchemist with this one. From now on, if I hear that BONES made it, I'm watching it, no questions asked.

Thank you, BONES, for restoring my faith in newer Anime.

Yeah I have to agree, they really did a good job of ending this series. Dont want to create any spoilers for others so that is all I will say :).

I've heard some people refer to it as the "Happy Evangelion" which is, frankly, somewhat fitting. The show definitely is up there in the category of "ultra-mind-fuck" at times, is beautiful all the way through, but unlike Eva, where a sense of nihilism and cynicism run rampant through most of episodes 25, 26, and End of Eva, Episode 49 and 50 are upbeat. You know how it's going to conclude from the end of the first act, but you don't care. You want to see it happen with your own eyes.

I'll say this - for those of you whom are into the "obsessively complex finales with deep meanings rooted throughout" you'll hate it. From a writer's view, it's fairly flat and lacks any and all real conflict; however, from a filmmaker's view, it's a masterpiece. The emotions of the characters are projected right onto you, and the climax is a beautifully touching.

So, to compare:

Evangelion - 10/10 Mind-fuck-o-meter, 9.0/10 Quality. Recommendation: Watch End of Eva if you feel like cutting yourself for hours afterwards while having deep philosophical discussions with other emogoths.

Eureka - 7.5 Mind-fuck-o-meter, 10/10 Quality. Recommendation: Watch Episodes 49 and 50 if you feel like hugging your dearest loved one for hours afterwards because of renewed faith in your love for them, or if you're trying to work up the courage to tell someone you love how you feel.

If only that could be any closer to the truth

Just go download the episodes isudae76. Its going to take too long with Adult Swim only showing a new episode every week. Besides it isnt really a show that you want to leave hanging for a week in you head and I am sure others will agree with me on this since you want a resolve after each episode (Which makes it so good).

Good point EmilLang. The end of this show is definitly made to get more emotion fromt the viewer than "What the Hell that is messed up" in my opinion. I do still have some questions about some parts of the show going to see if I can figure them out now :).

So....Why does everyone compare Eureka 7 to NGE???
This thought never really crossed my mind even once while watching the series... If it does look like another anime I'd say it is Last Exile. Dunno...

Yeah it really doesnt have many connections to Evangelion except that they both have Robots craft piloted by people (A couple more but dont want to make spoilers). It didnt come across my mind while watching the Series either until I got on the Forum .

Well, I can see a connection. The Evas and LFOs are both organic mechas, and in later episodes, the major conflict becomes something very similar to the Third Impact.

People also draw similarities to Eureka and Rei, though Rei's development is much less than Eureka's (when I say development, I mean how she opened up emotionally to Shinji and the others... that is before she died and was replaced by the emotionless Third).

Both Evangelion and Eureka Seven have very strong coming-of-age themes. The main difference, though, is that this is the main secondary theme in Eureka Seven, the first being love; Evangelion is the exact opposite, where coming-of-age is the primary theme, and love the secondary.

Then, of course, there's the whole confusion factor in both. Eureka Seven keeps you guessing, and doesn't reveal much, until the final episode. Eureka Seven, though, DOES at least explain most things eventually, whereas Eva leaves you scratching your head

Eureka Seven is considered a masterpiece almost hands down. If you check out its stats on Anime News Network, the curve is about 50% Masterpiece, 35% Excellent, 10% Very Good, 4% Good, and 1% everything else. Evangelion is the only similar show to reach similar reviews. Because of that, you inevitably get comparissons (the same thing happened between The Godfather and LOTR-ROTK on imdb when LOTR came in at a close second to The Godfather).

Too bad you cant buy them since they all havent been released yet, they only got three Volumes out right now (Which I have ordered). If you dont want to download them, you can watch them on YouTube (Which is what I did for awhile) Just use the search Keyword: Eureka Seven Episode (number here). It is pretty low rez, but you can read the subtitles easy and well its an alternative to downlading them.
