premiere elements 3.0 is out now
and unless you're really serious about video editing as a hobby, or possibly going into a career of the type, I'd suggest getting elements.

pro 2.0 $849 retail ($199 upgrade)
elements 3.0 $99 retail ($69 upgrade)

Magix movie edit pro, Ulead video studio and Sony vegas movie studio are all other options and are reasonably priced

you could also get an old version (like premiere 6.0) which still works fine

Yep, going to make it a career, while there isn't many vid makers in our country dedicated to gaming (especially). I'll go for Premier Elements then. ^_^

I tried Ulead (former employer) and EditPro (friend's), both are good, though before I buy one for my own, there might be others out there better than those... it seems its Premier Elements 3 then. ^_^

I'm hearing and reading good feedbacks about Sony Vegas Movie Studio, though still haven't tried. I kinda don't like using trial downloads as they are very limited and will only make decision making very bias. But oh well... Elements 3 then hehehe :D

Thanks alot!!

I'd definitely recommmend Vegas. It's very user-friendly and it has a lot of options...if you're willing to work hard enough to can do pretty much whatever you want with it, not unlike Premiere Pro (from what I hear). It seems like your mind is made up, though, so I don't expect you to convert.

That's supposed to be:

"If you're willing to work hard enough it can do pretty much..."

Sorry, can't stand grammatical mistakes.

Well I haven't tried Vegas yet, so I can still consider Vegas. Though right now, more weigh is on Elements 3.

I dunno much about Vegas, last time I checked out vid software, there were no mentions of Sony Vegas :p So I'm really curious about it. Right now I can say, Premier Elements 3 vs Sony Vegas?? (And what's really the difference between the two Vegas products I see around??)

I haven't had Vegas very long so I'm probably not the best resource, but the 1.5 AMVs I've made with it have taught me enough about it to let me say with confidence that it's an extremely powerful video editor if you're willing to dive in. I haven't learned everything about it by any stretch of the imagination, but from my experience if you're patient enough there's probably a means to whatever end you have in mind. It's very easy to understand if you've used even basic video editing programs before, and it's easy to get accustomed to if you haven't. It doesn't crash ever, unless you have a ridiculous amount of masks on one frame. I can't say enough good about it, but then again I've never used any Adobe video editing programs so I can't compare.

You should download the trial version...from what I hear, the differences between the trial and full versions are minor, such as not being able to save projects with the trial version (although you can export!) and one or two other limitations. Might as well - after all, it won't cost you anything.

Don't let me dissuade you from buying Premiere Elements 3.0, though. Vegas is quite a bit more expensive than PE3.0, and I'm sure Elements has plenty of features that match Vegas. If you're willing to drop the cash, though, there's no harm in at least trying Vegas out before you shell out $100 for PE3.0 and lose the chance to get the full version of Vegas.

since you're going to make it a career, I'd say you should get a cheap version of premiere, then buy the upgrade for $200

I use premiere pro 1.5, and I'm very satisfied.
A wealth of effects which you can pretty much bend to your will...good and bad at the same time because it [can be] kinda hard to figure out exactly what effect(s) you have to use/combine to get the desired output

but whatever one you choose, just remember this (at the very least)
don't use footage encoded with divx or xvid in your editing program(s)

very interesting and awesome feedbacks... with added pricing details... thanks alot... I highly appreciate it all :D

if the trial downloads doesn't differ much, I'll give it a try a then.
Vegas sounds good.

Yep, I'm learning the hard way with divx and xvid hehe...
