xvid-mpeg4

Postby superlaos91 » Sat Sep 23, 2006 8:15 pm

i'm using virtualdubmod. i went to compression and chose xvid mpeg-4 codec. and saved the video. when i played the video all that came up was the audio (vlc media player). i tried windows media players ( nothing came up but a screen saying vodec is not supported) is it my computers fault or virtualdubmods?

if this has been posted before would someone kindly guide me to that thread and close this one?

o and i think i may have posted this topic in the wrong area.... sorry i didn't know if it was a video problem or a software problem.

this belongs in video software help...or general video.

anyway, this is what you should do for the encode

and just to make sure...unisntall xvid and get the latest version from here
(get the .zip file)

That's clearly labeled as being the source code, which isn't going to do our OP much good unless s/he knows how to compile it. I suggest getting Koepi's latest binary <a href="http://www.koepi.org/xvid.shtml">here</a>.

bah...missed that, thanks scintilla.

usually you would unzip the .zip file...but as stated earlier the source code won't do you any good (unless you compile it)

follow the link scintilla posted and get the .exe

What are your XviD settings? If you're doing a "Twopass - 1st pass", make sure that "Full quality first pass" is checked; otherwise the resulting file will be worthless for playback.
