Problems with PICVideo MJPEG

Postby Up In Flamez » Sun Sep 10, 2006 3:51 pm

i recently installed PICVideo MJPEG v3 and everytime i tried to render in premiere it was always come with a window saying this is a trial version and if i would like to continue, every second so i cant leave it rendering

so then i found a version of PICVideo MJPEG 2.10.0.25 and i installed that.

when i run vegas, i get an error but it still loads. its says it cant load vegas60.dll

and if i compress a video using this version, it all works fine until i click on the video, not double clicking to watch, just clicking or right clicking, windows explorer crashes

can anyone help me this?

Why are you rendering in mjpeg?

Simple solution: don't use PICVideo at all. ffdshow has an MJPEG encoder that works well without all the stupid licensing or watermark crap. But like was already said, why the heck are you rendering in MJPEG?

It's fine for using it to quick render previews, but do NOT use it for final compression. Export to huffy then encode to h.264 or xivd dx50.

ya i am using it for quick renders in premiere, i know that something like XviD is better for final compression

its jsut that windows explorer crashes everytime i right click a video with that codec and vegas always has this wierd message everytime i load it

I did a quick test in VirtualDubMod and the ffdshow and PICVideo mjpeg codecs encoded at the same speed, with HuffYUV being equal to or slightly quicker than both. If you have a multiple processor system, Lagarith is another option for previewing. It also has a reduced-resolution mode that might be useful.

What kind of speeds are you getting with different quick-preview codecs on your system?
