I need the "BEST"

Postby Ch3aLs3A L!n@ » Sat Sep 09, 2006 9:08 pm

I need to know what is the BEST editing prog that I don't need to pay even a cent but it's has a Better quality when making or editing any kind of video. Don't mention the WMM because I used that now and having a huge trouble on my WMM that when I importing my AVI format and I have a codec that fits in my AVI.

And I just wondering if I could get a different Editing prog that fits in all kind of format in case I would like to get in the feature^_^ a different format file like omg or something like that too!

So can anyone show or tell where I can get of what I am posting here?

most of the better editing programs cost money.
I don't think there are any programs that use ogm files. You have to convert those to another format.

all free...but as moonie211 said, the "better" ones (put in quotes because best, better, etc are all subjective) cost money.
although Sony Vegas, Ulead video studio and magix movie edit are on the cheaper side.

but no mater what program you get (unless it's a linear editor like avisynth can be) you won't be able to use avi files encoded with divx or xvid.

oh yeah...this should be in video software help (or general video)

Even among the freeware and F/OSS, there is no one video suite you can call "the best".

It's a matter of personal taste: what's best for you depends on what has the capabilities you need to realize your vision and what you're most comfortable with using.

That said, I'd also like to suggest <a href="http://www.bobyte.com/AviTricks/index.asp">AviTricks</a> (freeware).

It would seem that some helpful moderator moved this thread from wherever you originally posted it to the Video Software Help board, so don't worry about it for now.

So, what you're really saying is that your (and moonie211's) consideration of quality (hey, it's all subjective) is directly proportional to MSRP.

Gotcha.

Look at the feature lists and read the documentation. If it doesn't work, try something else.

As a general rule: AVI files containing DivX/XviD streams don't work too well in video editing programs. You will want to convert them to something more amenable to editing, such as HuffYUV.

Well, you should probably have some understanding of what each program does.

I think it's too many but as you said the AVI format is don't work too well in video editing?

Certain video codecs do not work very well in most video editing programs. Most video editing programs recognize the AVI container format, though, and will attempt to use what you throw at them. It's in that last stage that problems start to occur if the codec you're using doesn't play well with the editing program.

So which is the GUD one editing?

If you're looking for one that supports a range of import formats, Cinelerra works, but I don't know if they're the formats you're expecting.

===

I suppose, at this point, it's fair to point out that a lot of the software mentioned in the thread that Kariudo linked is meant for a rather different operating system.

It seems nothing progress to find better one editing program what I'm looking for but I have a Codec All-in-One and I got a lots of AVI from the BitTorrent(to tell you guys frankly) one of My favorites Anime. I want to make AMV but my WMM is not accepting and it was working before but when my PC got broken. It change alot like I can't import that in my WMM so I decide to get a new Editing Program.

And so I guess I can't find the BEST one until I have to pay for it *sigh* :(
If so can anyone give me the cheaper editing video program? I don't really want too expensive! Just because my PC sometimes is having difficulties.

I try all in that link what Kariudo give me and it seems none of them are importing my AVI Files. *sigh* Please I really need something GUD Video Editing Program. Even a Cinerella it didn't work either :( :(

I highly recomend reading and understanding this guide before you start asking some of these questions about video. Also, know what it it you are looking for. What was your problem with WMM? Was it that it didn't offer enough control? Or were you just confused? Or is it that you could not import your video/audio? I think one thing you need to do is gain a higher understanding of what video is and how it is handled before you begin choosing a "best" or "good" program. Also, as stated above it is a personal choice in many cases. I like premiere, but I have friends who will argue that Final Cut is better. Depends on what you like in the program for funtionality.

Sorry for the double post, but i was reading your comment about your sources.... using downloaded AVIs and other such distrobution formats is not recommended. Distrobution codecs vs. Editing codecs is covered in that guide I linked to before. Before you come back and ask questions on it try reading at least the sections on video compression.

Did you catch what Trythil said about not editing with AVI files that use DivX/XviD compression?

You can read more about why this is a bad idea here:
http://www.amvwiki.org/index.php/DivX_Editing

The long and short of it is that you really should be either:
1) converting the clips you need to a more editing-friendly codec, such as HuffYUV
2) serving your episodes with AVISynth scripts
3) buying the DVDs if possible and working with those instead
