Vegas importing

Postby Niuzki » Mon Sep 04, 2006 9:57 pm

Hiya, I'm kinda new to amvs, but I use Vegas 6.0. My computer was down for about the past week and a half so i've forgot most of what I learned on vegas (Only got to use it a short time). Anyway to the point, When I try to import stuff into project media (episodes etc,) they import but only the sound imports. The video isn't there, they are in .avi format and they work fine when I watch them in Nero Showtime, Windows Media etc. Any help is appreciated.

are your avi files encoded with divx or xvid?
if so, those are not editing codecs.
you should open up the footage in VirtualDub(/Mod) and take clips there
then re-encode the clips with a lossless codec such as lagarith or huffyuv.

you could re-encode entire episodes...but that would take up enormous ammounts of space

Yeah, it's because they are most likely Divx/XviD. Vegas sometimes won't import the video. Do what kariudo said, and re-encode them into something Vegas can use in VDubMod.
