Smart Ripper.......Make.......brain....bleed..help..please..

Hi forum, newbie here requesting some help. I'm completely new to DVD ripping and recently heard that Smart Ripper was a good free program to use but when I actually tried it I had no idea what I was doing. Even after reading a few help topics and guides I was still flabbergasted. -_- Would anyone mind giving me hand as if to instruct me on exactly how to use this program or point me in the direction towards a simpler (*coughs* free) DVD Ripping program. ^_^

You have my uppermost gratitude ^_^

DVD Decryptor found in the AMV app is simple enough. A few clicks and you are ripping.

This is much easier to explain in pictures.

SmartRipper's main screen:

The configuration dialog (click on the Settings button on the main screen):

If you've got that set up go back to the main screen, select which Program Chain you want (this is how you pinpoint an episode or movie; sometimes these are broken up by episode and are 23 minutes or so each, or like in the example picture, the episodes are part of one long chain and you have to rely on the Chapter list to select which episode you want), select which chapters you want, choose where you want to save the ripped files, and hit the button that says 'Start'.

I use SmartRipper as my default ripping program, and I've very rarely had problems with those settings right there. I've only had to resort to DVD Decrypter for a couple of non-anime discs I tried to get stuff from (the 1998 Godzilla was one of them; can't remember the other at the moment), and a warped Nuku Nuku TV disc that came with an issue of Newtype I got a couple years ago.

Thanks alot for the help you guys, and a special thanks to you Qyot for the explanation of SmartRipper. I highly appreciate it.
Do not judge a person by their number of posts, but yet by what that person posts instead.
