Hey, does anybody know just how many manga there is for Saiyuki? I know they are nine for Saiyuki but that story included the parts from the main villain stories from Saiyuki Reload. So, I was kinda wondering what the Saiyuki Reload and Sayuki Reload Gunlock manga is going to be like and how many there're going to be...Does this whole thing makes sense to anybody?

Wikipedia says:

Saiyuki, main series, 9 volumes, finished.
Saiyuki Reload, 7 volumes so far, still running.
Saiyuki Gaiden, 2 volumes so far, still running.

According to Wikipedia, Gunlock (animated) is based on part of Reload (manga).

Ah...I see. What you guys got Gaiden?? What's it like? Is it as good as the others? I haven't seen the Gaiden ones yet...curiousity has rocketed sky high.

Um...let me see...personally, I like the manga version better because it explains certain things that anime version just don't. And, some episodes and story in the anime gets a little fuzzy (as in it doesn't explain it well on how it got there...well, that what I find anyway...but there's not many of those). Well, I live like on the bottom of the globe so anime is always slowest getting to us however, if we've got all nine already there should be around where you live. I'll say visit the comic store where they sell manga and if they don't have that volume request a list from store person. Normally, they have a list where you can get the manga you want ordered in. That's what I do.

Thanks for the little tip Anime_flower.

The only problem is, is that the only place i can get English version animes is at this store == and if they have it, they have it, if they don't......they're not going to go through too much trouble to order in a batch of mangas that they think only one customer will purchase = =

Anyways, apparently, Gaiden is a series of mangas or episodes that explains what happened in Sanzo, Goku, Gojyo and Hakkai's past lives. What they did, how they were and how each are sort of linked to the other. Thus bringing them together again centuries later....

I hear that the episodes (for Saiyuki) are mostly filler episodes, like they don't really follow the original story, but instead they throw in a bunch of random situations for the guys to face and overcome. But eventually, they do follow through with the actual story. I get confused sometimes ^^;

Okay, done babbling now ....... ^^; gomen

Yeah, if you thought that the original Saiyuki is just fillers...you ain't seen nothing yet. Just wait until you get to Saiyuki Reload. It's filled with fillers until what feels like the last 10 episodes or so. Although, the end of Saiyuki was a bit long for me and was filled with dark emotions. I kinda don't deal very well with those for a long period of time. So, when they had fillers in Reload, it was refreshing...Then, you reach Reload Gunlock and it seems to me that nothing in there was a filler. It followed the storyline from top to bottom, from left to right...oh sorry, it should be right to left...(japanese style). But then', it's all just me...little weird me.

p.s. all manga stores should have ordering service because at the end of the day, it'll probably accumulate into a proper ordering quantity instead of singular quantity order. Does that make sense?

Yeah, it makes sense.......hmmm......gotta give that a try ^_^

I'm watching Saiyuki Reload reruns, and i haven't read the mangas so i don't really know if it's following the story or not cause i don't really know the story of Reload ^^; But it's mostly youkais trying to kill the Sanxo-ikkou, the Sanzo-ikkou fighting youkais, Kou-tachi coming in to fight them now and then...........follows the same pattern^^

That's basically the whole idea of saiyuki. Youkai attacks...they fight back...they journey...Kou-tachi comes to bother them for a while. I believe that's all there really is to it most the time. Hahaha...even in Reload Gunlock...however, in Gunlock there was a difference due to this new character arriving. But man...I found that character to be the most annoyingest character I have ever seen on Anime. Not to spoil it for people so I'll just keep the details to myself. :)

Ooooh........

But there is one cool thing in the Reload series, you get to see Hakkai transform into his youkai form. Although you don't get to see his face......why'd they do that?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Does anybody have a pic of Hakkai in his youkai form????????

Apparently Sanzo gets turned into a youkai.....but that was a dream that Goku had.....wonder if it really happened...........

I think they did that so Hakkai can continue to be a mystery...as in he'll continue to be hard to figure out.

Hahaha...that Sanzo episode is so funny. He was dreaming but they ended up going to the same place where he dreamt Sanzo turns into a youkai. But, I don't think he ever does. First don't you have to soak in 100 youkai's blood in order to turn into a youkai? :? And he has that holy power of his so I guess that makes him immune...I hope.

I love the extras at the end of the episodes too. They're funny. :D

I don't get to see the extras T_T

Waaaaaahhhhhhh............

But i read the summaries somewhere and they are to die for ^_^

Actually, it's 1000 youkai's blood.....eh, you never know. It could be a cruel joke

oh...so it's 1000...I got it mixed up, my bad. I thought I heard 100 when I was watching the episode where they were showing the past of Hakkai, how he became a youkai...hm...yep, yep, new information stored. :P

Cool, thanks for the info Underworld_princess.

Now, it probaly makes more sense because ever since I started watching the series I was like, um...isn't Sanzo-san a human (and even if he has some kind of holy power), shouldn't he have turned into a youkai by now after killing so many...surely it's been over 100 by now. Hahaha...but then again, he's always shot them from a distance so he never gets to soak in their blood so I guess that's probably why. :)
