Video Preview Error in Premiere

Postby TheOneFreeman » Wed Aug 02, 2006 9:09 pm

Hi, I have a problem with Premiere, I've been trying to render frames while I'm working on the project file (its always worked before) but right now, the frames are not rendering, I get a message that says "Video Preview Error", then after a while, it starts working; but it takes a while, does anybody know why this is happening

what format are your video clips/files in, and what codec did you use?

it could also be that when you started the project, you selected a few bad things (at least bad things in combonation) in the video tab and that's preventing you from rendering...

so just to be safe, I'd like to hear what your project settings are, and the specs of your computer as well.

if you did use divx/xvid, these are bad for editing, and you should re-encode your clips with a lossless codec such as lagarith or huffyuv

iif you have bad project settings. you will have to start another project and tranfer the parts you already may have completed to the new project

The project settings are what one of the guides says A&E's guide says to do
Its DVD quality footage turned into .vob files, then turned into .avs files
I can tell you this, my computer's specs are better than yours

that may be so...but that doesn't help me at all.
I need to have answers to the questions I asked you before I can help you any further
(not trying to be rude/mean...it's just that I need to know a few things so that I can give you a probable cause and subsequent solution)

btw...my [laptop] specs are
athlon64 3200+ (2.0Ghz)
1024MB Kingston pc2700 SoDimm
80GB 5400 HDD
ATI Radeon express 200M (128MB dedicated)
and a few other things that I won't go into detail about (unless requested...same goes for my desktop)

atlhon64 > pentium4 (pretty much any review comparing the two will result in this conclusion)
but you do have me with the 7800's in sli
(not that it'l help any/much for video editing)

so that rules out anything with system incompatibility...but I'd still like to know the project settings (including the properties of the video clips you imported)

just for kicks, my desktop:
athlon 64 x2 3800 (2.0GHz)
1024MB corsiar value select (dual channel, pc3200, 2.5-3-3-8)
Evga GeForce 6600 (256MB pci-e)
2 Western Digital raptors (10k rpm, Sata) 36GB in raid0
generic 250GB 7200rpm Sata
Asus A8N-sli delux mobo
Ultra x-finity 550W psu
