WMM is known to be the best free video editing program for PC. You can buy a very nice editing program for the price of a new video game. =)

Try Avid Free. I've never used it, but I've heard things about it.

Most editing programs don't like MP3. The ones that do, may still give you grief for using a MP3 occasionally. The best thing to do is to use WAV audio. Re-rip your song from your CD or convert the MP3 to a WAV.

Open the mp3 in Audacity and save it as a .wav

Ayah... I've got Avid Free, and while I can't find a better "free" editor... the import time is waaaay to slow for me. Like, an hour import time for each vid minute. Unfortunately that means I'm stuck with WMM which tends to close on me. I don't know of any more free editors, but I'm really itching to get ahold of a good editor myself.

What's creepy is that I came up with this quote before ever playing KH: Chain of Memories...

You see how I didn't say that I had heard good things. Just things. Just that it doesn't crash as much as WMM, and that its a NLE. Other than...not too much.
