No more interlace, now it's lines...

...Seems I'm needing help with every AMV I make...different help ofcourse. :P Hopefully one of these days I'll be able to get through it all on my own...w/ great results of course. :D

Anyway, I've ripped my Kino's Journey bought in US DVDs. Looked pretty bad, interlaced all to hell and whatnot. (if you've ripped Kino's Journey and have a copy of your avs sript I'd be most appreciative if you'd let me peek at it. :wink: ) .....ok, I'm fairly new to avisynth, used it once before but I didn't really expect to get perfect results because my footage was old VHS so I learned some basics but am still a little :shock: at all the scripts available numbers and things needed.

:oops: So please forgive me if my script is all wrong or really bad or stupid...newbie to avs here. :oops: here it is. I have one for every episode but it's all the same.

LoadPlugin("L:\Sally's documents\sinstallers\AMV Making Tools\dgmpgdec147b5\DGDecode.dll")
MPEG2Source("C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\SafeKeepingAMV\Kino's Journey\1.Land Of Visible Pain.d2v")
telecide (order=1)
TomsMoComp(1,5,1)
deen("a3d",4,12,15)
temporalcleaner()
Tweak(bright=-12,sat=1.3)
ColorYUV(gain_u=10)
LanczosResize(848,480)

(This isn't my final script yet (I think), it's just what I've gotten so far...I'm still trying to tweak it...and add and delet stuff)

See after deinterlacing it I got these lines, like almost not noticable unless there's a big block of color, really thin lines that don't move throughout the whole screen.
So I smoothed it out, (ALOT) lines are gone....but then what used to be the lines turned into my footage being all grainy! So I turned the smoothing down a little and got the lines again...
Sharpening didn't really help. I've read the guides, searched and read about avisynth, but GOD there's just so much! I think it might help me not feel so overwhelmed if someone were to point me in the right direction...please? Help?

There is a vague interlacing-like effect in the anime itself. It was a decision made by the director.

That is VERY important to know. I am currently writing an op for a Kino vid, and I was like "wtf, this is some odd interlacing, gotta mark you down." Now I know I don't need to.
