Man, there has been a huge upsurge in these "newbie" topics lately.

Anyway, if you're new and never done editing before use Windows Movie Maker 2. If you have windows it should have came with it free.

Click, Start, all programs, accessories, entertainment, Windows Movie Maker (it should be there)

Read the How-To Guides linked on the front page of the main site, use the search function to find out about things you don't understand, and do some reading before you start anything major. There's a software list here. Check that out and do a bit of research on the ones that look interesting.

Yeah, there ARE al ot of noobs ...but i guess the site HAS gotten quite a bit of critical acclaim in the past few moths, it's been mentioned in new articles and anime forums all over the place. Remember when that amv was advertised on yahoo? I'm telling you, it's only gona get worse.

I am new here too, but I do not think of myself as a noob, just new to this particular forum.

If you have never made or even edited a movie, I would start with the windows movie maker if you have XP as it is the easiest to use, get familiar with putting clips together and cutting and adding music and so forth so on, until you get use to doing it, before you try using something advanced like Vegas.

As far as getting clips, it depends on what your wanting to do, a game or cartoon, movie etc, dvd's are prettty easy, games can be a bit more difficult to get footage off of, depending on the game. Alot of people download their clips off the web, that is not a bad idea for practice, and as mentioned read tutorials, they can be extremely helpful :D
