Need help with RMVB support

Postby Creasy_Bear » Wed Jul 19, 2006 4:43 pm

Ok I need some help. Soon I am going to make my first AMV, and I have planned it out extensively. I have all the clips (and skill) neccisary, but theres one problem. All my clips are RMVBs! None of my video editors (Ulead, Pinnacle Studio 9, and good ol' Windows Movie Maker), or any other video editors that I know of, support this video format. Well I posted this thread to ask two questions. #1: Are there any good video editors, or atleast a free plugin for the ones I have, out there that support RMVB video format? #2: If there are no good video editors and/or plugins for RMVB video, is there atleast a freeware converter I can get? All the converters I can find are $30+, and I am not willing to pay that much. If it was the only way, I would buy one. But I would much prefer to avoid that, and save it for a last resort (although I will buy a new video editor; mine aren't too great  ). Can someone out there help a no0b in need?

No. From the forum rules:

Forum signatures shall have no greater total dimensions than 600 pixels wide and 80 pixels high or four lines of normal-sized text (font size 12). You may have multiple images in your signature, but no single image may exceed 600 pixels in length or 40 pixels in height or be greater than 100 kb in size. Any signature exceeding these total dimensions or any single image that goes beyond the aforementioned limits may be removed or altered without warning.

Ok I am having even more problems now. I can't seem to figure out how to get the RMVBs onto a DVD without making it a "data" disk instead of a "movie" disk, because the program I would use for burning movies was Pinnacle, which doesn't support this type of video to begin with. I tried to use RealPlayer, the source of this abnoxious video format, but it seems that I can't burn DVDs with RealPlayer, period. And, to make things worse, I have to pay for programs that burn RMVBs to DVDs (they cost nearly twice as much as converters, too), which defeats the purpose of trying to do this for free. *Sigh*; I guess there is just no avoiding it. I am gonna have to buy a program for this... Can anyone recomend a converter to use? I don't want to be ripped off.

uh, mr. pwaffles meant rip your footage from DVDs, not burn your rmvbs to DVD.

once you rip your footage from the DVDs, you can render AVI files from them, or work directly with the VOBs through a frameserving program like avisynth. for more information, consult: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/avtech/
