monitors

Post by grayplague » Sat Oct 05, 2002 11:25 am

NOTE: Im not actually asking for help, morely your given opinion.

For the three years I have been making videos, I have been using one small 15" monitor. Well now that I have upgraded my computer, Its time to get a new one. I have never used a dual monitor setup or anything larger than my 15" for video editing. Here's where I want your opinion.

Which do you think is better to use?? :

dual 17" monitors or a single 19"

I have no clue as to which way to go so please inform me as to which you would use.

I'd get a nice 19"

The chances of you fully utilizing those two monitors is slim as you only do overlay on one of the monitors. Also I believe WinXP has better dual monitor support, so if you don't have that then once again I would suggest a single monitor.

I have a 21" monitor, I used to have 17". There is a big difference :D Web pages look nice @ 1600x1200, I can have two 720x480 video windows open with 10 video tracks expanded :p

Very sweet ;)

So once again, I would just get a nice 19" or even a 21" if possible. Also a flat screen monitor helps prevent Moire Patterns(ugly circular rainbow lines that looks like crap).

19 inchi is the better choice, those few inches make all the difference. I would highly recomend a flat screen, not necessarily those small more compact screens but a good flat screen. Often when you have a flat screen it makes the picture appear larger than it really is.

I could never get over the fact of having a three inch gap of plastic in the middle of my display. It just doesn't look normal to me. I thought about how useful displaying the vide on the second monitor is and the only thing I would get from it would be more neck strain ;p

Oh when will they come out with 16:9 monitors? :O
then you'd get the best of both worlds, and look cool at the same time
