Boards of Canada "Twoism" reissue...there is a god

Postby Zerophite » Sun Sep 29, 2002 10:11 pm

I think the title says it all ^^. Boards of Canada is reissueing their beloved Twoism on November 25th. Twoism is a vinyl that was released back in 1996 under their Music70 label, and only 100 were made. Now it's going to be available to EVERYONE, well...it's not like you can't get it off any P2P client...but still, respect the band please! ^^

When I first heard about that, I thought, "I wonder if Zerophite knows about this?" I'll be the first in line to get it though. Besides, I'm 2 hours ahead of you, so there's little you can do about that, unless you go to the eastern time zone or something... There's so many great songs on this - my fave is "Directine" - and it's so cool that it's finally coming out. Everytime play the mp3's on my PC, I can't believe they were recorded way back in 1996.

I've seen little reason to get The Peel Sessions EP, as there's nothing new on it (though I bet it's still cool), but I have been eyeing a BoC CD called Hi Scores that I've seen available online in a few places. Have you heard of (or heard) either of these?

I guess they don't play many live shows, but I've got mp3's of their set at All Tomorrow's Parties. Have you heard these? They make for another cool CD if you have a burner.

I'm all for Sixtyniner, I think my sig says it all :P and Twoism, which is where I got my AIM name ^^ I've listened to those songs for years, and they still haven't lost their charm, it's amazing.

The Peel Sessions are useful, if you have the SKAM/WARP release (as opposed to the Matador/Skam/Warp release) of Music has the Right to Children, where it doesn't have Happy Cycling at the end (basically, if you live in the UK, or bought them off WarpMART), and if you want the alternate versions of Aquarius and Olson, which rule.

If you buy the Japanese release of MHTRTC, you'll get yet ANOTHER Peel Session CD, one which people thought didn't exist. It has 4 songs, Aquarius 3, Happy Cycling, Olson 3, and XYZ (XYZ rules by the way, it's Pink Floyd guitar riffs and very abstract rhythm [I can't even tell the Time sig. ><])

ATP is amazing, I fell in love with the first song immediately. It's an awesome opening song, hypnotic, it reminds me of the ocean. The rest are great too though. I have them all ^^

Oh yes, Hi Scores is great as well. Too bad you can't actually buy it for cheap anymore, or buy it from a mart anywhere. It was their first major release, the reissue is the only one that you can really find anywhere (eBay).

country roads, take me home to the place I BELONG West
Virginia mountain mama, take me home... Country roads, take me home.

I hear a voice in the morning as she calls me. Radio reminds
me of my home far away, I'm driving down the road I get the feeling I should've
been home yesterday. Yesterday!

Hi Scores is unavailable? http://www.bentcrayon.com has it listed for $9.99 on CD, though they have some other items listed on their site that apparently are out-of-print or unavailable. Would Soulseek or Kazaa have these?

The only other non-album tracks I've come across are "Orange Romeda" and "Kid For Today", that latter of which is either a Stereolab remix or a remix of a Stereolab song - either way, I can't find an original, non-remixed version of the song.

I realized with horror last week that my copy of Geogaddi skips, though it does so on the final seconds of track #22, so it's not as bad of a deal as it could be. I've come to the conclusion that my car's CD player is doing the damage, so it's nothing but CD-R's in that from now on.

it's still on BentCanyon? I know they had it on there long ago, but I don't know if they still have it, or if it's out of stock, but I'd snag a copy of I were you if it's still available...shit...I should go get myself a copy of it to frame ^^

Delicious. Must buy.

Haven't had much luck finding anything other than the 2 major releases and the Peel Session Happy Cycling EP.

Sweet...It's already mine. Well, I have a burnt copy (courtest of Zerophite) but I need to buy the official version. Boards of Canada is one artist I will chose not to rape.

Thievery Corporation? That's a name I haven't heard in a long, long time.
