Using single frames in Premiere

Postby Bushido Philosopher » Thu Oct 03, 2002 2:39 am

I want a frame in my timeline to run like a static image....

I've tried like lowering the speed to like 1% but apparently the AVISynth plug-in doesn't like that and when I open it again later, it gives me one of those import errors.

So is there an alternative to doing this?
(I have v6.5 so I was thinking of using that Stop Motion thingy, but I'm under the impression that it only applies to capturing frames)

just save the frame as a bitmap - it will pop up in a window when you've done and then you can click and drag that image back onto the timeline and it will be added to your project.

AVISynth usually craps out when a file using AVISynth is slowed down to a speed below 70%, I believe. So the only possible way is to save the image as a bitmap file and use that.

You could also just use frame hold on it. I dont recommend that though, as premieres frame hold sucks. If you try to add on transparency or motion or anything, half the time it wont hold the frame no matter what.

How can you be too lasy to make it a bitmap? Just lock on the single frame and tell it grab frame and save it as a bitmap. Granted I use Pinnacle DV but a friend of mine uses Premiere and does it. All in all it takes either of us only a minute to grab teh frame and insert it in the timeline. then you can make it as long as you want. Hell, the Trigun video I'm working on has so many single frame shots's it's amazing. (The shot needs to last for roughly five frames but if I told the scene to be only five frames there was too much motion since it was meant to flash for beatmatching)

Do what I do, create a whole folder for AMVs and direct all subsidary files to that folder. I keep all the old still frames and images I ever use in that folder in case they ever come in handy, as well as projects, captured footage, outputs etc... It's handy, believe me.

Well, yea, i do do that, i have an amv folder, and then subfolders for all my projects. But when you have, say, 200 different image files, each new one you add is a royal pain in the butt when you are trying to name them (much less find it later)
