Making AMVs

Postby Lady Saotome » Thu Mar 23, 2006 1:51 pm

So, I've read all the guides and I think I'm getting a handle on what I need to do/buy to go about making AMVs. But I have a few questions as it seems to be quite a complicated process.

I downloaded the AMVapp. But it looks like I need a DVD-ROM drive & a video capture card - a regular CD-RW drive won't cut it? Even if I already have anime episodes on my computer - they are the incorrect format & that's why I need the video capture card? And then I still need Windows Movie Maker or Adobe Premier or some similar program? Does that sound about correct? I just want to make sure I'm understanding completely before I run off & purchase the wrong thing or something unnecessary.

Not quite... you need a DVD drive to get anime from DVDs or a capture card to capture it from a source such as a DVD or VHS player. You can use downloaded footage instread, but it's frowned upon is is not supposed to be discussed here. It's sufficient to say that the same general processes can be used with that footage as the DVD or capture card methods...
