Chaning the codec of a video

Postby Razgriz187 » Wed Mar 08, 2006 3:09 pm

I have a video that is using Divx codec and was wondering if anyone knows how to change it into another codec.

Umm, use VDub to compress into a different codec. Or something like TMPGEnc to compress it into MPEG.

Right. lets forget 'why' for the moment.

basically you want to use Vdub and save it in the highest quality setting that you can, something like Huffy, or lagarith (though I haven't used that much). Otherwise you're just compressing a compressed file even more. You might also want to run whatever filters you think neccesary to clean up the random noise that divx gives you.
I assume you're going to edit it and then compress it yet again, just remember: GIGO
