This project is awesome. Seriously.

Can I make 2 tracks and then show them to you and you pick which one is better and put that one in? Because I've hit another good idea but I don't want to take up the space of 2 tracks in the project.

Sure, if that's what you want. :)

Cool. In that case my second track will be ...

Song: Olivia the Band - "Heaven"
Anime: Akira
Type: Serious/Action
Length: 0:45 - 1:00

Once I get them done you can pick which you want. This song is one of my favorite worship songs so I'm excited about it.

I personally wouldn't consider Mae (or Anberlin for that matter) a Christian band. I guess my definition of a Christian band is a lot different than your guys'. Mae is another case of "Christians in a band", not necesarilly "a Christian band." They're all lumped into that category because they happen to be on Tooth and Nail (which as I had stated before, is not specifically a Christian label). But, meh. I dunno. In the case of Mae there's only one song where they even mention Jesus (Tisbury Lane). Many of their songs do have positive themes, but by that logic you could lump in hundreds of secular bands/songs.

Ah well.

I don't know about tooth and nail, but I think you may have missed the mark there. Christian bands and Bands with Christian members are the same thing. How? If they are truely christains then it will show through their music wether it be Christian or Secular. Just because a song lasks the word "God" in it doesn't mean it is secular.
for example, if you were to say that if a song had the word "God" in it has to be Christian, then what about "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails?

I know this isn't what you ment but I'm just saying. I believe Anberlin classifys as a Christian band and should be allowed. As for MAE.......welll..I've never heard of them :?

Then by that definition, you could consider P.Diddy, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and several several others who are self-proclaimed christians (not just hip-hop/rap) would be considered Christian artists. And I never said that a song has to mention God or specific Christian themes to be considered a "Christian song". What I was talking about is whether or not the band considers their music to be their ministry. As far as Mae, Anberlin, and several others on Tooth & Nail go, this does not apply.

I am not saying that these artists should be "banned" from this project or whatever. I'm just saying it's something that should be taken into consideration. I spent a long time in the Christian rock music scene and I guess I just have a hard time seeing artists being labeled unproperly.

Akira? Well, I guess if you can make it work somehow. Your second track is added to the list. :)

Yeah, reading through the artists' lyrics, most of their songs were simply about guy/girl relationships. They're listed on Christian music radio sites and Christian music sites, but that's probably because they're assumed to be Christian bands from being on Tooth and Nail.

Both the artists did have a few songs that could be interpreted as being Christian, though (Mae a little more so than Anberlin). The two songs that were picked for the project sound at least semi-Christian in nature to me. We're not gonna be too picky about that now, since we already ok'd the songs. So we're gonna let those two artists on the project anyway. I do see your point, though.

Heh, thanks. That's why I wanted to double-check with you two before I posted anything.

That's precisely why I meant to ask.

Well, if my part doesn't enhance the theme of the project, it can be pushed to the side so others can participate. I can still use my part for a future individual project.

No, we'd still like you to make your track for this project if possible. I don't think the song would disrupt the theme or anything. The choice is up to you, though.

I'm a big fan of Christian rock, mainly Relient K, FIF, Switchfoot, and more. I would love to try this. I'm a bit of a newbie to MAKING amvs but don't think that I won't make a good one because of that. I've been doing small video editing for years and have just gotten together all my components finally to make vids. I'll send you a link to a personal vid of mine once I get one completed. It's hard to think of more bands that haven't been taken yet (Since my first choices would be FIF or Relient K) but I think I'll go oldschool on this one.

Song: Wake-up Call - Petra
Anime: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
Type: Action/serious
Length: 0:45 - 1:00

I may change my mind, but this idea was the first to pop into my head. I'll keep you posted.

Ok, you're added to the project.

UPDATE
---------

We're adding another deadline: full betas must be sent in by June 1, 2006 (this is a month before the final submission deadline). This is when we wil be doing the judging of the tracks, and we would like to have everyone's complete or mostly complete tracks in our hands to base our decisions off of. During the rest of June, we will be giving people suggestions for their tracks, deciding which order the final tracks will go in, and just giving people some extra time to put some finishing touches on their tracks before the final versions need to be sent in.

Song: Woohoo
Artist: Newsboys
Anime: Digimon (does it matter if I use footage from more than one season, seeing as how each season of Digimon is almost like a different series?)
