Katsucon 2006 AMV contest winners (official as of 3-1-06)

Post by Brakus » Sat Feb 18, 2006 4:35 pm

These results are unofficial until verified by the convention, but I'm pretty sure all this is correct considering I was at the awards ceremony.

[UPDATE: As of 3/1/06 per Keith Mayfield this list of winners is indeed the official results.]

Best Action (Judges):
"Live and Let Die", Bryan Minnix
Video: Samurai X
Audio: "Live and Let Die", Guns 'n Roses

Best Comedy (Judges):
"Dude, Where's My Schwartz?", Michael Zubryzcki,
Audio: Spaceballs trailer/movie footage/"Spaceballs", the Spinners
Video: Various

Best Drama (Judges):
"Killer Queen", Jamie Simo
Audio: "Killer Queen", Queen
Video: Last Exile

Best Action (Attendees):
"Major Tom", Boyd Hale
Audio: "Major Tom (Coming Home)", Peter Schilling
Video: Wings of Hommenaise

Best Comedy (Attendees):
"Alchemist Man", Katrina Forest
Audio: "Particle Man", They Might Be Giants
Video: FMA

Best Drama (Attendees):
"Embers", Alice Li
Audio: "Embers", Evanescence
Video: Various

President's Award:
"I Am Fullmetal", Jeremy Soria
Audio: "The One and Only", Chesney Hawkes
Video: FMA

My award certainly came out of left field - I didn't really expect to win anything for my video, and I'm sure there were a few people out there that didn't think my video deserved the award. I was bummed a little bit when I didn't win any of the Best Drama awards, and may have said something I certainly shouldn't have after that, but when it was announced I won the award, I was tremendously humbled.

Congratulations to everybody who participated... y'all did a great job.

Indeed, congratulations, Brakus, and to all the winners. Once everything was up and working, it was a good contest.

But here's not the place for that - I'll start a separate thread.

KUDOS!!

Thanks for posting the list. I think your video was fairly good although since I did a FullMetal video myself, I may be a bit biased. The President's award as I understand it was for the president to pick an AMV that he liked excluding the videos that won something already. I liked the idea for this award because it gives attention to videos that may be good but not nessesarily the best in their categories.

I'm also glad they removed the "Best in Show" award, because honestly, there were lots that were good in their own ways. Besides, Best in Show almost always goes to an AMV that already won something in another category.

Don't sulk over losing best drama. I've had AMV's beat me many times, even Karaoke Gone Wrong which won an award in Katsucon 10 didn't get anything at the first con it went to.

Remember, be nice to the other winners!

BTW, if anyone was looking to download Alchemist Man, it's up now. Hard drive crash. >.<

I know this thread is old, but Keith Mayfield is back from under the weather, and he has confirmed the winners listed in this post are indeed the official winners. Again, congratulations to the participants.
