Most dramatic instrumentals I know are Gavin Greenaway's "Reflections of Earth" (from the Disney Millennium album) and Randy Edelman's finale from Dragonheart (actually, a lot of the rest of that soundtrack would also fit the bill).

Howard Shore does a ton of Dramatic Music, Lots of people use One Winged Angel by Nobuo Uematsu (Directed majority of the Final Fantasy Music)...umm...Berlioz, Schumann, Ticheli (Shenandoah, Not up beat or epic but definately dramatic.)

...also see also James Curnow his Piece "Where Never Lark nor Eagle Flew" is about a poem written by a pilot the day before he flew his last mission (Died in a crash).

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds—and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of—wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delirious burning blue,
I’ve topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew.
And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod
The high untresspassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

-- RCAF Flight-Lieutenant John Gillespie Magee Jr.
(1922-1941).

For those who care about the Sentimental Value...

Check out this page, it has a ton of good classical arrangements...

El...

PS: Most good Classics dont work well with AMVs...unless you only use Snipits here and there.

Harry Gregson Williams - The Rave

This is from the Man on Fire ost that features a techno song that uses the same theme as Mansell's, and it's still pretty dramatic sounding.
"If you believe in yourself, eat all your school, stay on milk, drink your teeth, don't do sleep, and get your eight hours of drugs, you can get WORK!"
