A New Song

Postby Deathscythe_Animated » Sat Feb 11, 2006 12:22 am

Man, I just want a song, I'm tired of the music I hear on the radio. Sometimes I think of how cool it would be to be able to get some original content, something no one has heard before but can really get into. It needs to be heavy and destructive without the artist finding the need to scream at the top of his/her lungs, I understand the appeal to that kind of music, but it just doesn't work well for me.

I think there's quite a few songs on Anthrax's album "Among The Living" that have what you're looking for. You should check it out.

Masterplan? It's heavy and melodic music. :)
But there are a lots of good band with great singers whose also use melody and scream/rattle.
For example: Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Slipknot, The Haunted, In Flames, SOAD, etc... 8-)

Dysrhythmia is stone-heavy, extremely kvlt, and lacking in screaming -- IIRC they are all-instrumental. They're also putting together a new record which should be out shortly.

As a caveat, this is not simple music to get into. Pick up Death's Symbolic, Individual Thought Patterns, and Human in that order, provided you can dig the current one. If you make it all the way through, not only are you ready for Dysrhythmia (and other prog/math-death), you'll be hooked on them.

If you don't want to go through all this effort, I'd suggest Neurosis, Daylight Dies, and Agalloch; less complicated, still awesome.

Don't bother with the radio if you want something hard and original. Try either purevolume.com for indie metal and Shoutcast radio on Winamp for some more popular metal (I reccomend ChroniX Agression).

Nevermore. Tapping the Vein is pretty angry, but maybe too angsty. And maybe Amaran's Pristine in Bondage.
