"Lipsyncing is cruise control for comedy."

This forum is for the general discussion of Anime Music Videos.

Guilty, your honor. With lip-synching liek that, it's more like you're using the funny song's inherent funny as the selling point as opposed to adding your own funny. I think that comment makes sense.
This is a painlessly short sig.

badmartialarts wrote:Furthermore, and this is where the comment comes from, there are lots of drama videos that just make me laugh because of the lipsync.

A "famous" example of this is One Day More. This showed in the drama category at AX, and thousands of people were laughing their asses off. As the video info says, it got a standing ovation at the end.

Lipsync good for comedy or bad? Good in drama, or bad?

Good in either if done well. Bad in either if done poorly.
Given its prevalence in comedy, it can be hard for some to take seriously sometimes in drama, as discussed. Generally in comedy AMVs, I want more than just lipsync, but sometimes lipsync-only can be entertaining as well.

i agree with this

however, bad lip sync videos always win out over videos that can sometimes be clever or hard to catch comedic wise.

Hence is a good way to capitalize on competitions... Any other kind of AMV might be good but almost always, at least to me, something personal... in the end to quote Men in Black, "a person is smart, people are dumb (and panicky)"

Well, that wasn't so much because there was lip synch as because of just what the characters (read: Gendo) were being made to say.

Well, that's what I mean. Lots of times, even when lip sync is contextually appropriate, it simply feels silly.

I think people will try to use lip sync in comedy since it might help solidify the connection to the character. I mean, when you have the voice of Golum paired up with a perverted high school teacher, it makes the duality between the two characters more hilarious.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Lip sych for comedic purposes is generally pandering to the lowest common denominator, and therfor deplorable.

Its my instinct to think that the creator has sinsister and manipulitive motives when doing this but 5 years of con experience has proven that generally, said creator is part of the lowest common denominator.

Rofl I could rant about this shit for hours.
