Peerflix

Peerflix main site

This is said to be similar to Netflix except that you own - rather than rent - the DVD. It's a place for trading DVDs. The downside is that you get only the DVD - no case, no liner notes, just the disc. And there's a cover charge of US$0.99 per trade.

Comments: I could live without the case, but I think the lack of liner material puts Peerflix off limits for serious anime collectors. And if you're just an occasional viewer of anime, why bother to own the disc when you can rent it at Netflix or Block buster online? On the other hand it might be a good way to get rid of unwanted anime DVDs in exchange for non-anime titles.

This should be moved to Heads Up.

But as for trading bootlegs...the risk is no worse than at eBay or the used market place at Amazon. Caveat emptor is always the rule.

I'm not recommending it (for other reasons), but Peerflix has received recommendations across the board: The New York Times, The L.A. Times, The Today Show, etc.
