Direct Stream Copy in Premiere 6.0+

Postby LimpPimp » Sun Sep 29, 2002 4:10 am

Is there any way to do direct stream copy of audio and video? I want to use the exact quality of the video and audio source without having to re-encode it, because I've been getting less quality afterwards.

Maybe, I'm not sure but you can try.

Make sure all your video sources were encoded the same way (same codec, same fps, same bitrates etc.)

From the menu, select [Project] -> [Settings Viewer] and then set the project & export settings exactly as the sources. Check 'Ignore Video Effects', 'Ignore Audio Effects' and 'Ignore Audio Rubber Bands'.

Try export and see how quick it does.

What you can do is if you export in the same codec that you previewed in, you will not have to re-render areas that have already been rendered when you previewed.

Oh yeah well... mine answer was pertaining more towards speed. He want's kwality. I would export in HuffYUV then, that should maintain good quality. But DSC is just a DSC, you can't alter the frames or do any neat things like fades and transitions. If all you wanted was hard cuts. DSC may work for you. However I have noticed that VirtualDubs DSC is kinda inaccurate. I believe you're forced to cut along keyframes when doing DSC, so it really isn't that much of a help when it comes to advanced editing.
