Opening DV files in VirtualDub?

Post by y2kwizard » Sun Sep 29, 2002 12:58 pm

Hello all. I'm wanting to use VirtualDub to process some video files I have that are saved in the Microsoft DV format. For some reason, it won't open DV files. The error message is this:

"Couldn't locate decompresor for format 'dvsd' (unkown). VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable"

Does anyone know how to do this? could I use AviSynth or some program like it to get VirtualDub to open up this file? Thanks a lot!

Create a new avisynth script with the line

DirectShowSource("wutever.avi")

and open it in vdub. should work.
