Yes, that. I've mentioned about this on the previous page. I think we more or less have the general outline for what'd have to be in there in the sense of, you know, track listings, technical details, credits, and so on - I'm more interested in what else in the way of comments people would like to see in there.

I think we generally agreed that it's best to just put everyone's comments, should they have any, together rather than going track-by-track and editor-by-editor.

Or, the simpler version - if you have anything to say as far as the video page - say it now or forever hold your peace (aka., I'll write it on my own).

Um.

So, as I am told by reliable sources, release shall be temporarily delayed from the last indicated 'end-of-october' deadline. Not for long, shall we hope.

I've received rather scarce feedback on the description issue up to now; and I don't intend to seriously start working on it until 1) more of it comes in; and/or 2) the project nears completion. I have the basic ideas in mind, but that's all for now.

Bakadeshi - I won't be able to help you with the lip-sync in the next little while anymore, since I'm sort of booked for a bit. How are you doing with them yourself?

Guys, poke me vigorously about working on it tomorrow night. I've got no homework due on Friday (save studying for a quiz), so with constant poking I should be able to finish all of the widescreen commentaries. Tomorrow night.

In return, I'll probably whine for some help on assembling a toga. xD

Red = newly finished and ready for final encoding.

The / indicates that the commentary is more than halfway done. Editing on a timeline with 10 video tracks was getting really cluttery for me, so I did everything in two passes. During the first pass, I chose the background music, applied audio filters, and synched all of the image and hue changes. Choosing background music was especially hard for some of these... yes Ararat I'm looking at you...>__>

Anyway, that was the more tedious and time-consuming half. I've rendered some smoother animations of the guy's arm moving about, so all I have to do now is superimpose them on top of the first pass videos. I did that for Simplicity and End of All Eva this afternoon. Once I've done that for all of the commentaries, I'm pretty much done except for final encoding.

The credits are also pretty much finished. All I'm missing are the bg music information for the fullscreen commentaries. Bakadeshi?

SURPRISE!!

THE WIDESCREEN BETA HAS BEEN UPLOADED.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I'll send out links later today over AIM. If I don't see you online, you'll get it via PM.

The entire widescreen portion clocks in at 55 minutes and 51 seconds. Even with two-pass XviD compression and a resolution of 512x288, the file weighs in at about 350MB. (Yes, I did remember to compress the audio.) Still, that's pretty good for an almost hour-long video file, right? And plus the picture quality is pretty darn good, considering that most of the source files were not lossless. :P

Oof, gotta go now. Catch y'all later!

Beautiful technical job there, I think the compression is just plain awesome. The commentary visuals are also nice and unobtrusive, I think.

I'll withhold comments on the commentary voice, being the commentated commentator (and I still can't get used to hearing it in a yet-unfamiliar setting x__x)

beautifull job there Hellen. Couldn;t get the smoke thing for the pipe to work? I think it woldve been awesome with it. Maybe I can look into the possibility of adding it with some software after I finish with the fullscreen section. As it is, I think the scene comes off as a bit static. (not enough movement) maybe if the projection light flickered might also help that.

Gotta say I loved the awesome job on the credits.

As for my stuff... I'm about 80% done with it. all the lipsync is done (which was the more time consuming tedious part of it all), I just need to assemble the sections, find background music for them (answers jasper's question on that.... yes I still need to decide some of them...), and time the projection slides for all but 2. I hope to be done with everything this weekend.

to quote Otohiko....:

video quality is real nice for the filesize.

i thought all of the narratives could have used 1-2 dB less loudness on the background music - we want the viewer to listen to the narratives, not the bg music - and ararat, surrealism, end of all eva, wasteland narratives could have used 3 dB less loudness on the bg music.

All right, I'm back. Sorry for not posting much - my workload has been a little hellish lately. And from the looks of it, the demands of academia have bene pretty tough on quite a few of us in the recent weeks. >__>

Anyway, a big thanks goes out to all project members who have watched and given me some thoughts on the beta, though so far that list only consists of Oto, Bakadeshi, dwp, Kalium, and ooshna! Where did everybody else go? I sent out PM's to all the project members (and an email to rose4emily) ...

I got it working, but then I realized was that pipe smoke looks a lot different from the cigarette smoke clip that I'd found, and that adding it seems a bit unnatural and distractive. So I decided to just not include smoke at all. The video does fall slightly on the static side, but I think that viewers will have plenty to concentrate on with Oto's monologues. Since I'm pressed for time (and you are, too) I think I'll just leave things that way they are. Unless there's a relatively quick and easy way for me to apply the flicker effect.

Yey! :D Oh yeah, I went back and added you under "art concept" for the fullscreen narratives, since you've made some adjustments to my original drawing. Be sure to notify of me your bg music selections soon! So I can stop crediting "Song" by Artist. :P

Cool, thanks for the specificity. I'll tweak the volume levels this weekend!

Anybody have any other comments? Come on... Songbird? Pen-pen? Anubis? TJ?

Anyway, hope y'all have a delicious Thanksgiving. :D

little bit delayed, kinda busy this week and weekend with stuff over the holiday. should be back in schedule next week. Actually typing this from FL on my laptop. I don't have much actuall editing work left to do, but the actuall exports and tweaking any little nitpicks will take some time.
