Mew Mew Power

Postby 76 » Sat Oct 22, 2005 12:37 am

(I know I'm a guy and it seems weird that I watch this show but I like it)

I just started watching this show on fox saturdays, they just started a new season and I got hooked on it so can anyone explain it to me?

Simple it's a show about 5 teenage girls who were mutated with animals at birth. But I think that this will make more scence

Zoey Hanson is your normal 16 year old girl, but when she goes on a "date" with her crush Mark, something strange happens. Zoey is accidentally fused with the DNA of a wildcat, becoming the first memeber of the "Mew Project".

Equipped with her new powers, Zoey must now become a crime fighter, protecting the world from an invasion of evil aliens called Cinaclons. She must find her team members and keep her new identity secret while also working part-time in the secret cafe base!

Her Teamates are:
Kikki Benjamin

Corina Bucksworth

Renee Roberts

Bridget Verdant

Zoey Hanson

Elliott Grant

And that's basically all I know, Because I just started watching it 2 months ago,and my cable stopped working so yeah.I hope this helps.

If you ever get the chance though you should check out Mew Mew Power Uncensored. It shows you the difference between the English and Japanese versions and it's amazing. I haven't read the manga but I've heard it's good. There are no seasons yet. It is 52 episodes. That is it. 4kids called it a second season after 13/14 episodes. It's sad. Again, check out the forementioned website.

It is the only thing I wake up early for,EVER!!Have you ever noticed that most of the female characters, besides Renee, sound the same as Zoey's.
Maybe I've only seen the dub:Mew mew power, but isn't it supposed to be more about the planet/animal/enviroment than love? They can really score some parent points for that. Like the kids would care....You're killing our Earth!!!

I rate it: 6or7/10
I never thought that there would be the day...when this this sig would be upgraded.

Well, basically they get infused with endangered species/'red data' animals (Ultramarine lorikeet, Iriomote cat, Finless Porpoise, Grey wolf and a monkey that I forgot the name of, because it's orange...) and, well, the rest can be picked up from watching any episode... unless something else has been changed other than names and ages in the dub :D (other than the lack of emphasis on the environment).

The manga is so much better at explaining, so if you're willing to pay try and get a second hand copy of Tokyo mew mew...

http://mmpu.smuncensored.com/ Is a good site too.

*wishes it aired over here* Lucky. All i get is subs... :)

No you don't. Not the English dub anyway. It is bad. Not bad but it could've been better. It seems they just wanted to dub it and get it to the English speaking public ASAP. You know Pudding right? The one infused with a monkey? She's like Chinese or something in the original right? In the dub she's just as English or American as the rest of them. I've been told that in the original Ichigo doesn't obsess that much about Masaya because in the dub it's all she does!!!!! Also their transformations have been cut, edited, and censored and they cut a lot of stuff out usually because of three things: 1)Cultural differences (and that's why the dub isn't called Tokyo Mew Mew) 2)Time. I don't think they have as many commercial breaks as we do in Japan so the dubbers take out useless stuff just to fit the time frame 3)Along with cultural differences they take out dialouge and scenes that are inappropriate for certain audiences. Why do a lot of dubbers think that shows like Sailor Moon and Tokyo Mew Mew (excuse me, Mew Mew Power) are made for little girls and that only little girls are going to watch it. Tons of guys over who knows what age and girls too watch it. Hope that's enough to chew on for now.

Haven't been watching it recently, but I did enjoy it to an extent. The monkey girl (Kiki was it?) was the highlight of the series for me. I just have a thing for stupid and goofy characters.
