Are logos looked down on?

Postby Gallup » Mon Oct 03, 2005 7:17 am

I really want to make a particular video using Naruto but have so far only been able to find subtitled footage. Not wanting to go through with cropping every scene I continued my search and discovered the American version with the stuped cartoon Network logo. Do you think that it would be best to just use this or go back and use the footage with the subtitles, all of which would be cropped? I want my vid to look as nice as possible so that is why I am asking. If someone knows of a better idea let me know here or through a private message. Thanks.

This is why I don't use fansubs and diffidently don't use the cartoon network unless you want people to hang you here. My recommendation would be to crop out the subtitles. I have never used fansubs before and probably willn't. Good luck though with your video.

When I made my first Naurto amv I found there were only a few parts where I had to clip out subtitles and even so I think zooming in a little or cropping the whole video would be better quality then getting rid of the CN logo, which I know pisses me off greatly to see.

You could mix footage from the two sources, just for good measure, so that you'd end up with a logo-covered AND subtitle-ridden work of art.

You should try to crop subtitles if you have a program to do so or just don't use the CN episodes at all. That's the thing AMV fans hate the most. Seeing AMV's with the Cartoon Network logo, especially the new logo, and especially with Naruto! Don't use the CN at all costs.

from what i can tell most people are pissed at CN for cutting up their favorite series, so I think you are better off cropping subs...

i'll think you'll find that the actions scenes contain hardly any subs so unless you use a lot of dialogue footage there wont be that many scenes that you would need to crop.

I agree that cropping the subs sucks, but you can also set your editor to crop the whole kit and kaboodle when you render it. So unless the lower 11 pix of the screen are all-important (as well as the 6 pix on either side), that's an easier way out. Since you are using one series, might work fer ya.

I really am missing the nosebleeds in the Americanized version....

Check out my Naruto AMV (I Can Go The Distance). Everything in it is fansubbed originally. I just turned my video in a 16:9 video. Some clips (few) made me have to move the screen up or down slightly and I had to find raw versions of the openings and endings because most fansubbers have 3 rows of subs (kana, romanji and translation) + credits for sansubbers, which took up most of the screen.

Other than those minor problems, it all worked out swell. My current AMV is a Naruto AMV as well, and I also used 16:9 for it and it also worked out well ^_^.

Please use the correct term: letterboxing.

"turning my video into a 16:9 video" has at least two meanings, and they don't refer to the same procedure or output.

How much did those things run you anyway?

Back to the subject, you could always use the raws that they pput out the day before teh fansubs come out so you dont have to worry about them.
The site is saiyaman or something like that google it. I have been getting the raws for naruto for like 50 episodes now for when i make another naruto video. I would like to get region 2 but i dont want to pay an arm and a leg for em eather
