Elfen Lied

What the hell was up with Elfen Lied's ending?

Spoiler wrote:First that scene where Lucy sudenly appears infront of a bunch of soldiers, then dies (I think). That made no sence according to the scene with kota before it. And that last scene where someone knocks on the door, then the clock ticks and poof, series ended.

Anyone wana explain things to me?

Don't you love how the series is open-ended?

Here's what lots of people seem to interpret as. Ever since the last horn got shot off, Lucy is now reverted back to Nyuu for good. The clock moving symbolizes how everything can move forward. Ever since Lucy killed Kouta's family, it basically placed him in a state of shock for the next couple years. Lucy accepts her responsibility for that action which led her to "surrender" herself to the army. Supposedly that shadow that appeared is Nyuu without the horns.

The one plot hole with that intepretation is how Lucy/Nyuu escaped.

Sure the ambiguous ending worked, but it totally left me wondering what was going to happen after that? I mean the show essentially sets up the end of the world for humankind right? On top of that, the already mentioned plot hole; how did she escape?

It'd be nice if they continued this series into a comedy series like how FMP did Fummofu...

Now that Nyu is uh, back to her former self, some hilarity can ensue... I don't know about you but when shee peed on the floor in the first ep, I was laughing for hours...
"Strength lies in action. Let the weak react to me..." - Kamahl, Pit Fighter from Magic: the Gathering
"That is a mistake many of my enemies make. They think before they act. I act before I think!" - Vortigern from Merlin ('98)
"I AM REBORN!" - Dark Schneider Bastard!! OAV

Oh, that wasn't as funny as when Yuka walked in on Kohta changing Nyuu's clothes. And don't even get me started on "the 14th episode"...

Yay, first post ever to this forum.

That's bussiness strategy+cheap tricks for you. Thats the whole explanation. Looking for any kind of ligic in most anime(especially their endings) is often pointless and I really don't pay attention to that. :)

Besides an ending like this really compliments the whole cheesiness of the series

I don't think they are related. Think "childhood friends" and you'll be in the right ballpark.

She's obviously got it for him, and he can't figure out if he's got it for Lucy. (Hot, sexy, innocent and willing Nyu... Hot, sexy dangerous Lucy.... )

Well, if she really was his cousin, then their kids would have extra eyes and stuff.

But that is negated here: http://www.elfenlied.net/chara.html

And I even pulled the DVD out, and ffwd'd to the Kouta/Yuka intro and she says (and I quote), "I'm Yuka. Your cousin."

Ok, FINE. When they have three eyed grandchildren we know who to blame. I figured it for a case of 'assigned' family. Like when characters refer to others as Nee-chan, and so on. Less icky that way. Maybe they'll move to Arkansas when they get married.

I'm still going to stick to my theory that he stayed with that family after he lost his, and accepted them as surrogates. Then I can be happy thinking whatever naughty thoughts that I want and not break any imaginary laws.

Please remember that japanese have big families she could be a 4th cousin removed first cousins are the ones that would lead to genetic instabiltys. My mom and grandma are cousins its not hard to do and yes they live in west virginia. and im proud to say that the only genetic malfunction in our family is schizophrenia.
