Would anyone pay for personal tutoring?

This forum is for the general discussion of Anime Music Videos.

Hmm, that idea does make sense, but I wouldn't pay for something basic...

If you were gonna charge, charge them for something REALLLYYY off the wall... [where the instruction help file is NOT NEARLY enough...]

Adobe After Effects comes to mind.
"Strength lies in action. Let the weak react to me..." - Kamahl, Pit Fighter from Magic: the Gathering
"That is a mistake many of my enemies make. They think before they act. I act before I think!" - Vortigern from Merlin ('98)
"I AM REBORN!" - Dark Schneider Bastard!! OAV

True, I used to be a constant poster in that forum.

It was very hard for me to learn how to use Premeire and Vegas but once I learned how to put a clip in, it took no time to learn everything else.

The only thing I still can't do shit in is my After Effects. If I just spend a couple hours with it I could learn though.

Word. Same here, man. But I had to do it all through IRC or instant messaging (with screencaps), and those people weren't even friends, they were just random newbs.

If you could get booth space at a con, and setup 10-15 computers... I'll bet you could rake it in like they do at Siggraph.

So to answer... maybe.

You thinking what I'm thinking, Madbunny?? Chop Suey AMV!! Make your own LPZ music video in one hour, contests held daily!! ... oh wait, that's the idea behind Iron Chef... sorta'.
I think a booth like that might be interesting, with a tutor for every row of contestants, then the contestant that wins pays the tutor (like lawyer fees who pays to practice etc.) plus you could have the tutor that wins the most gets another prize!! Havent figured out how you could profit from that, but it sounds like alot of fun, even for the tutors! Maybe make it 2 to 3 hours or so and license yourself some music/ anime (sponsors)...

I get the feeling that tutoring from Zarx would basically be you in an editing chair while he rips pages out of an Adobe AE tutorial book and force feeds them to you one by one.

Technically speaking, there isn't really anything wrong with that. If you think about it, most of the areas that people seem to have a hard time with are fairly well documented, and usually have tutorials. The problem isn't the ability to find a tutorial, but the ability to understand them. If he has the skills to explain the functions of a program in such a was as to make them easier to understand... good.

needs edit button... may not use it if I had one, but needs one ;p

Besides, they're to two different ppl.

Anyway I was thinking more like some students would teach the TUTORS something... so maybe Zarx would be the student and I would be the teacher :o

Well, I know I've learned that there are a lot of people who can't read manuals worth a damn, so maybe you're right...

Hmm, well if anyone was actually interested, just toss me a private message (one of the buttons below my sig), and we can talk it over and see if it might work.

If I ever plan on clicking my After Effects icon, I'll probably pm you. It'll be better to learn AE fast and be able to use it well for a little money ya know.

BTW: You should make that AMVHell.com look more colorful or something. It looks too plain.
