The 7.53 second AMV contest!!

Post by RutKiskasca » Mon Sep 05, 2005 1:46 pm

Hello all... this is really simple.

We on on #AMV on zIRC have decided to throw a little IC style competition. The winner will get ummmm....nothing...unless we sweeten the pot later.

The rules are simple.

Any audio source....
Any video source...
the video must be 7.53 seconds long.

There can be only one winner. Finished products to be hosted somewhere other than the org, and voting to occur at some point for a winner.

The contest ends midnight EST, 5 Sept 2005.

[dero: midnight EDT, US is on daylight savings time. That's 0400 UTC. Convert this to your local time @ TimeAndDate.com]

Voting for the winner will open at that time, and close at midnight EST, 6 sept 2005

maybe there will be prizes...maybe there will not be. Hey, we just came up with this.

In case anybody cares, that's 7 seconds and 16 frames if you're working at 29.97fps, or (almost) 7 seconds and 13 frames if you're working at 23.976fps.

Contest rules clarification

Post by RutKiskasca » Mon Sep 05, 2005 3:53 pm

Don't you hate it when a contest gets started, and then someone comes along halfway through and screws things up with a rules clarification?

Me too...so, here you go.

The video must be 7.53 seconds. If you have a 30 second avi file, and there is precicely 7.53 seconds of actual video nestled between 22.47 seconds of black space, then you have met the intent of the rules...if the video is fading in and out for .15 seconds, the moment there is visible video or audible audio, your video has begun...it's not over until the audio is no longer audible and the video is no longer vidable...

Once again...any audio you want...any combination of audio you want...no audio, if you want...

Any video you want, anime, non-anime, whatever...stills...you name it...

Oh, and for a prize, I will mail you the R2 copy of S-CRY-ed, disc 1 that I won from another contest, because I am a cheapskate...

Hey, it's R2...I hear that's good.

Contest coming along

Post by RutKiskasca » Mon Sep 05, 2005 4:42 pm

Looking good, looking good...so far we have seven entries...enough videos to run about a full minute of amvs at any given con...

Once we hit the deadline, I will post a list of all the videos submitted, with links to download them. That way, you can find them all here after I disable the contest login. You should have them all by then, but this will allow you to get any last minute entries. I will also post a list of contestants. Each person that entered any video can vote once.

Ok, so here's how that voting will work. No matter how many videos you submit, you get one vote, and you should vote on which video you think is best overall. I will get to cast a vote, and the videos that I submitted cannot be voted for (but you can tell me I rock...that's good enough for me.) This way, even if everyone who enters only submits one video, and everyone votes for themselves (greedy bastards) then I get to cast a tie breaking vote. But, I dont think it's going to turn out that way. I think we have a pretty mature group of editors here, who are willing to vote their conscience.

The videos are looking good, folks!
