I have returned!!!

At any rate, I sniffed around the website and didn't see my name there. Makes sense, as it was about 8 (or so) months ago when I volunteered for the project. Well, I'm back, and have an (almost) completed vid. In case my info was lost long ago in the forum here it is.

Creator- Radman
Track#- 28
Music- (U-2) Sunday Bloody Sunday
Anime- Hellsing

I am assuming this trasck hasn't recently been taken, but if its not, I could have a preview for you in the next few days and (if everything checks out) the final to you within the week.

Your info's on the tracklist. Where were you looking? If you have to, clear your cache and reload the page. It should show up.

But good, the sooner you can get me a completed preview the better.

If anyone has any updates, feel free to post.

As for me, I'm still looking for a solution to host the preview tracks and the FTP server, as my webspace doesn't have that much space or bandwidth (and I don't want to get another cancelled website like Angelfire did) and my computer/router setup seems to not want people connecting to my server even though I can transfer within my home network (and yes, I did try port forwarding to see if I could open it up to the outside).

If anyone has a spare FTP, or website space that you could volunteer for this, it would be greatly appreciated.

FTP and Preview

Postby zamora » Tue Aug 16, 2005 8:43 pm

 I knew that Gmail can accept big files. Because there is a contest that can recive video files in the mail. SO, maybe if we try to cordinate the day to upload. Because the mail is big but not infinite. :D.
At least for upload the previews.
Or or or or if the FTP don't work Send a Preview of 100 MB to the mail to have the best quality, and then decompres the file with VirtualDub. It's only a sugestion.

I can live with a couple colorspace conversions, so you could use this method:

Use this script to open the exported video with AVISynth and convert it to YV12:
Code: Select all
AVISource("video.avi").ConvertToYV12()

Then open the avs file in VirtualDub, select Lagarith as the compression codec, making sure that 'RGB (Default)' and 'Always report original colorspace' are marked. Make sure the Video menu is set on 'Fast Recompress', and then save to a different AVI. This will make a much more managable file (and it won't require using a lossy compression scheme).

Hopefully I can write up a guide for this soon so there's a visual to go along with what I'm saying.

And Radman passes the torch to...

Postby RoninT » Tue Aug 30, 2005 9:24 pm

My bro and fellow AMVer Radman wants me to be in charge of getting his Sunday Bloody Sunday clip to whoever it needs to go to. He's stuck back at home with a viscious 28Kbps modem so he wants me to take advantage of my college's bandwidth in order to transfer the file. However, as a warning, my college is ridiculous on blocking every port imaginable (The only ports that I know are open are 23[e-mail] and 80[web]), so it might take a couple tries for it to work.

Hit me up on AIM tonight or in the next few days, and we can try that. There should be a DivX or XviD encoded preview file first.

What's the filesize on the master video?

Ridiculous College

Postby RoninT » Wed Aug 31, 2005 11:09 pm

Sadly I wasn't joking when I said my college blocks everything. I just tried AIM today and it appears to be blocked as well. Any other ideas?

If you have any website hosting capabilities, that might work. I would assume that would use port 80, right?

Do you know of any websites out there that have limited online file storage for free? I think there is one or two sites out there that do it and if so I could upload it to one of those and just give you the username and password.

Heh you could always do what I did.. cut it up with win rar and host 15Mg files on angelfire.. you end up with about 20 sections but Qyot27 still gets it none-the-less

Well, I don't know of any that has over 20 solid megs of storage for free (which would be Angelfire).

Have you tried seeing if the college connection allows for FTP? Serv-U is good for basic FTP server setup. FTP is port 21, I think.

I'll probably have to go with Angelfire because FTP is blocked as well (I tried uploading my AMV to a-m-v.org yesterday and much to my frustration it didn't work). I'm trying to get in contact with my brother right now to find out where he put his completed Sunday Bloody Sunday project on his comp (I don't think he's ever cleaned and organized his AMV Project folder)

I should probably start editing my track... I have unlimited space, but only 40 gigs a month. A plan that Farlo told me about, I will invest into. It's limited space, but it's 3.5 TB a year (roughly 300 gb/month). I have a server, but thanks to my cable connection and my need to burn things, it's 55 kb upstream max and after I burn stuff I'll have a good amount of space that can be used.

/me gets to work on track

I found Radman's low-quality copy of his Sunday Bloody Sunday clip and I got an account with Angelfire, but the only way I could find to upload it was through ftp.angelfire.com and as previously stated Port 21 (FTP) is blocked for me. Any more ideas?
