Actually I don't have anything to do with the running of the con, but after I
asked a few questions about the rules, they realized they had posted the
wrong rules draft.

Here is the correct draft:

Guidelines
o Up to two (2) entries may be submitted per person.
o Entries must be less than six (6) minutes in length.
o Entries with excessive violence, sexual content, or explicit
language are not permitted.
o Bumpers and/or credits should be either minimal or not included.
o Entries must contain primarily anime footage.
o Entries that have won an award at other conventions may be
submitted for screening, but will not be judged.
o Entries may be submitted by staff and guests for screening, but
will not be judged.

File Format Details
o Formats Accepted
+ Computer files
# Video
* MPEG-2 (.mpg)
* MPEG-1 (.mpg)
* XviD (.avi)
* DivX (.avi)
# Audio
* PCM (Uncompressed)
* MPEG-3
+ DVD
+ VHS
o Computer files should be in their original aspect ratio. (4:3, 16:9,
etc.)

Submitting Entries
o Entries must be received by October 21, 2005.
o Application
+ Fill out the following information in a text file for FTP
submissions or on paper for mail submissions. Personal
information will not be distributed.
# First/Last Name:
# Name to Be Used in Credits:
# Studio (if applicable):
# Video Title:
# Category (if you want it judged for anything besides
Grand Prize; choose from Comedy, Drama, Action):
# Title(s) of Anime Source(s):
# Song Title:
# Song Artist:
# Address:
# Phone Number:
# E-Mail Address:
+ Entries that do not include this information will be disqualified.
o FTP
+ Entries may be uploaded to the following FTP server:

# Server: youmaconamv.serveftp.com
# Port: 169
# User: AMV_Contest
# Pass: 962KsAZh
+

Upload the above application in a text file with the a title that
is similar to the video file name.
+

Any issues relating to the FTP should be directed at
iceman dot f1 at gmail dot com .
o Mail
+ Entries may be submitted on a data CD-R, data DVD-R,
DVD-R, or VHS by mail to:

# Attn: Youmacon AMV Contest
# Nikolai Nolan
# 34322 Shawnee Trl.
# Westland, MI 48185-7012
+

Include the above application with your submission.
+

Entries submitted on physical media become the property of
Youmacon and will not be returned.
o Submitting a video and application gives Youmacon authorization
to screen it during our anime music video contest screenings.

Judging
o Awards will be given for Comedy, Drama, Action, and Grand
Prize, provided that each category receives an ample amount
of entries.
o Entries will be screened and judged before the convention.
o The video programming and AMV contest coordinators will choose
a judging panel of two (2) creators and two (2) non-creators.
o Entrants may win only one award.
o To accept awards and/or prizes, entrants must be present or have
a designated proxy at the convention to pick up their award.

Of course ...using FTP software... I'll try again
Ahh, didn't use the correct port :(

I also accediently uploaded two broken files in my attempts
to upload. Delete them and only accept REALshuji.zip as my submission.
Gomen about all the problems.

Yep that would do it. At least its up and running. and the revised rules are easier in my opinion to work with than their original idea.

heh...cool...appears my FTP is working ^_^

I'm at work right now but I will delete those entries if I remember. But I always check my gmail account when I get home from work so if you put it there, I will get to it ^_^

But don't forget to have your contact info and stuff as well as your vid :P

As far as the FTP goes. It is running on a comp at home...so unless power goes out, internet goes out or I need to reboot the comp, the FTP should be fine.

Looking forward to seeing some of the entires ^_^

Edit: What I might end up doing tonight is maybe giving the user the ability to make their own folder so they can group it together instead of all the files appearing in one folder. Or maybe having it seperate depending on the category. I'll talk to one of the other people running this and ask to see what they think. Keep the entries coming though. Want to have a nice ammount to make a good contest ^_^

If I finish my new AMV, I'll be sending it down for people to "preview" it before I send it to REAL contests (IE Anime North 2006, ACen 2006, etc)

BTW, What do people think of the rules? Seem fair? Need work? Confused about something?

good...that's what I assumed, but never hurts to remind people again :P

It's amazing how when people see something, they don't read it all the way through and just skim it and miss important things.

EDIT: I forgot to say that I am normally idling in the AMV chan on IRC

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/irc/ (you need to login for this page)

My nick in IRC is Iceman_F1 so if there are any other problems with the FTP or you want something deleted or whatever, you can PM me in there and I will normally see that before I would my gmail account.

Michigan, eh? We're going to have to submit our videos there. Its been too long since we've sent anything in to a convention as our videos never seem to show at the cons they are sent to. Well, wish us luck, we'll need it.

Damn, looks like we're going to need to rehost our videos again.
