New Anime Super Search Options

Post by Phade » Mon Jun 20, 2005 11:04 pm

Hey All,

There are some new Super Search options for the "anime" criteria: "Video Has Anime", "Only Anime Like", "Exact Match In", and "Only Exact Match".

Video Has Anime
This is the basic behavior that has been with the Super Search for a long time. This is the default behavior. Example: You enter "Ranma" and choose this option. The results will have videos with any anime title that matches "Ranma" as well as any other anime title that happens to be in the video with "Ranma".

Only Anime Like
This will take the anime criteria you've entered, match it with the list of anime, and then return videos with only those anime in them. Example: You enter "Ranma" and choose this option. The results will have videos with only "Ranma 1/2", "Ranma 1/2 OAVs", "Ranma 1/2 The Movie 2: Nihao my Concubine", or "Ranma 1/2 The Movie: Big Trouble in Nekonron China" in them. The returns will have one, more, or all of those anime in the video but no other anime in the video.

Exact Match In
This will look for an exact match of the anime title and return videos with that exact title in them. Example: You enter "Ranma 1/2" and choose this option. The results will have videos that have "Ranma 1/2" in them as well as any other anime in the video. However if you enter "Ranma", you will get no results since there is no official anime listing as "Ranma".

Only Exact Match
This will look for an exact match of the anime title and return videos with only that exact title in them and no other anime. Example: You enter "Ranma 1/2" and choose this option. The results will have videos that have "Ranma 1/2" in them and no other anime. The resulting videos will have only the one anime listed as an anime source. However if you enter "Ranma", you will get no results since there is no official anime listing as "Ranma".

These should give you much more flexibility and specificity for searching by anime. Since some of these options are computationally intensive, the new options are only available to donators.

I hope this helps. Good luck and have fun!! ^_^

Super Search: A good thing that gets better every time :)

Thanks Phade!
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Hey,

Oh yeah, the current server slowness is due to a statistics update script that I ran to get one of the options to work correctly. It should be done anytime now...

One sunny day in AMV land disaster struck! Search results were overruning everything. In the confusion mild mannered Quick Seach slips into a phone booth and donates some money to Phade...

Super Search arrives. With the strength of many years of coding, faster than a speeding dateabase query...

(And who has ever seen married man Kris McCormic, and the dashingly handsome Super Search in the same room together?)

/extended metaphor

As always:

Thanks Phade.
