Heh, at this rate you might want to wait for my next beta then - I'll probably fix it up within a day or two...

You can compress with WM9 in Vdub if you have the codec installed (most likely from Windows Media Player). It's also in a .avi format, so don't be confused when it doesn't end up as .wmv.

WMV9 looks quite good, from what I've seen. I've actually never thought of using it for LQ purposes. But yeah, it uses the avi container.

Ahm, alright, I'll try. I should probably update the codec; last time I tried to use it, vdub just decided to crash...

Wow, this thread has really sprung to life. One minute I'm double posting and the next there's two more pages.

Title The earth is good... I had trouble transitioning from the eyes. The title will be within my section and it will be Awesome. Actually I might I need to ask another favor from one of the more graphically skilled members to design a nice title card... Cause mine sucks.

Otohiko's Beta Looking good, you've added a lot of subtlties and smothness, the action is a lot better too, I have some nitpicks but they will have to wait untill tomorrow.

Songbird I'd rather you didn't cut the song but if you have too we can try it out. What stroty arc(s) of Narutyo are you planning on using? Do you have a particular theme in mind? I think Naruto will work well for that section but one word of warning: It's a very popular series so try to avoids the really overused scenes, show scenes that people don't see in every Naruto video or show them in a different way, that will keep it fresh.

By changing the shape of the viewing area do you mean morphing certain clips or a overall constant change? I think a video (or segment) seen through, say, a circular screen instead of a rectangular one would be pretty nifty.

Me I'm so vain... Anyways, I should have a beta out soon and my segment is starting to come together. I'm still unsure If i'm going to be able to do the whole thing but what I have is looking good. Speaking of holes I almost put "accepting editors" in the thread title but then someone PMed me asking to join and between that and some of you speed demons (relitivly speaking) maybe doubling up, I think we'll be OK.

You've never wondered why we have never posted at exactly the same time? The secret is out!

Hai! Wakata! :) I was planning on showing Sasuke's slow slip into darkness and how their friendship is affected along the way. To me, in my segment there are 6 parts.

1. 00:00 to 00:06- Fast piano roll which I will use for the character introduction

2. 00:07 to 00:25- Next, for the first hard rock section I would show battles when Naruto and Sasuke fought together in order to point out that they were friends.

3. 00:26 to 00:42- Starting with Sasuke getting bitten, show how Sasuke is turning to the dark side (Of the force, Luke. LOL) little by little.

4. 00:43 to 00:58- Sasuke turning against Naruto and leaving the Leaf.

5. 00:59 to 01:17- Naruto and Sasuke's battle starts

6. 01:18 to end- Naruto turning the tide on Sasuke, ending with memories of friendship.

Let me know what you think. :)

Great topic.

Feel free to back up as far as 7:47 (the end of Kaliums section) if you want.
6. 01:18 to end- Naruto turning the tide on Sasuke, ending with memories of friendship.

A somewhat light-hearted ending might be good because the next section is much brighter. The end of your segment is sort of the musical equivilent of a redemption scene in a movie. (you could even play around with the footage some and make it look like Sauske went back with Naruto, that would be an interesting twist.)

First beta!

http://s20.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1CY3 ... YWEBPS58IQ

More of a layout really, it's still pretty rough.

The title needs serious revision but I really like the placement. The colors were supposed to be a birth life old age death sort of thing but it doesn't show up well even with tweaking (I should have used an outline :x ). The flashes are a bit much.

any coments on coherency of story line (so far basically the same as the anime "young man sets out on a journey" sort of thing, from here on out I will be focusing on his relationship to Mononoke as much as possible and try to take it further than the movie did.)

Anything to short too long? Too quick too slow?

I really liked the openning. The title card does need alot of work, but it wasn't too, too bad. The source choice is perfect. It'll make an excellent backdrop for the start of this project. Because the vid's still in its beta phase I'm getting a couple of video hiccups, but I can tell them appart from the actual editing, so they're not a problem.

On the down side the speed up at 0:56 looks a little comical, 1:01 - 1:05, its hard to tell what's going on, and lastly the scene at 1:11 always grosses me out. On a side note, you don't really have to do anything about that last one. I'm just saying, you know, "Ewwwwwwe."
