To be semi-serious about my repsonse: You could always seek out the videos that don't require any knowledge of the anime to fully appreciate. Like, for instance, Metro's "Telephone Love" or Bakadeshi's "Angel's Redemption 2".
Or any of the videos that ignore the original story of the anime and make their own.

Very true. I was only semi-serious in my post as well Still, though I know it's possibly, I think it's a little strange to like AMVs but not anime. One prime example I can think of is TheNanashi. He says he hates anime, he just likes to use some of it for artistic purposes.

Anyway, if anything - I got into AMV's through cons, not the reverse. And I got into the whole thing through liking anime. I think denying that would be quite dumb on anyone's part. I'm yet to see an AMVer who really doesn't like anime. I don't believe it to be possible, in fact...
