The audio is distorted, how can I fix it?

OK, when I put a voice-over in my video, it was very quiet and I had to turn up the volume so you could actually hear it. I used the audio effect called "Boost" which finally made it audible, and used the volume rubber bands to maximize the volume. Unfortunately, the audio quality on the voice-over is now terrible. The manual doesn't tell me how I can fix it, does anybody know how I can do this?

You may have boosted the volume way too much. Try normalizing the audio clip instead to like 95-98%. Can't remember if premiere had it but a lot of other audio utilities have it as well.

Either that or you may need to find a better recorded (louder) source file.
