Oh, and

Animix Part 5 as well.

I think if there's a single project head who deserves recognition it's Willow. I consider Animix to be the best long-form MEP to have been released so far.

well, the question is, should we distinguish from long form and short form MEPS?

like DDR, Animix, RVG, etc..... vs ROS, Childrens Projects, etc

i dunno do you think it needs to be distinguished?

I submitted a suggestion for an MEP category, here's how I see it.

MEP: Any video with 4+ creators involved

Short Form: Less than 20 minutes

Long Form: More than 20 minutes

I do think there needs to be a way to distinguish, but that's my personal opinion. The only real problem with this is Animix: While Part 4 and 5 were both released in 2004 and both qualify for short form, the completed project as a whole qualifies for long form, but was released over 2003 as well.

With all of the qualifying short-form videos on Local and with all of the qualifying long-form videos having had widespread BitTorrent downloads, there's really no excuse for there to not be MEP categories this year.

All MEP suggestions seem to have gotten shot down for technical reasons. Maybe next year.

I'll cede that it's more or less impossible to have a competition between, say, DDR4 and RVG, since there are dozens of parts independently listed on the 'Org, etc. However, I fail to see why this would stop a Short Form category, since TCP, Animix 4, Animix 5, ROS, RDS Compilation 2004, Project KuT-up, Anime Reloaded, and more are self-contained (with all their contributing editors referenced in the video profile) as well as available on the Donut.

No reason to stifle the creativity of so many editors. Less excuses and more categories.

you know, I know everything here is database driven, but you dont have to be confined to the laws of code.

It could be done rather unoficially. Hell you could set up a damn forum poll and have like 1 week ehere anyone who wants to list their MEP can do so, and then we vote on the poll based on those that were listed.

the results of the poll could be added to the official winners page of the 2005 VCAs

just a suggestion

I was unaware that the VCAs stifled so much creativity. Maybe everyone that feels so creatively stifled should stop working on these multi-editor projects so they can work on other videos that they can win contests with.
