lol i called my webmaster had him change the site and forgot to have him code one small thing...

that you dont have to have a new video to compete...lol

you may submit any work you have that you believe is solid and good. i have a video that won 3 events across 1 year and a half in Japan, Europe and here in the states. so i'm a firm believer your vids dont have to be new to be great.

figure 1-2 years on age. and it doesn't matter if it played at another event.

this will be updated as well...the questions and comments asked earlier have alreayd been addressed in the AMV page on the site.

Thanks

I don't think any of us are worried about the quality of our work, but it's kind of common courtesy to not "troll for awards" or to continually submit an "old" video to every contest.

Everyone has their own standards as to what is "enough" (it could be as little as one convention of award or as many as whatever) and unfortunately, I have reached mine with the videos I would've liked to have submitted.

If you guys have prizes like this every year though, I will certainly keep this contest in mind next year or maybe I should hope to lose? :P

Good luck with the contest. Although I'm not entering, I for one appreciate your efforts and how you are "giving back to the community." Thanks!

Aye, but awards have never been 42" Plasma Screen Monitors :)

Nah, I'm just joking. There are a lot of contests that don't mind older videos but a lot of times it's just the creator's call to not submit old stuff.

you are absolutely right in this, in our case i look at trolling as a video that has too much unedited clips that last for more than 10-30 seconds that are dropped in to fill gaps on the hopes it will blend well.

but greenjinjo is right on the money for some of the last contests in the recent year, or at all for years, no one has really given away a big fat prize. so thats why the slight change in the older vid rule (con trolling).

that will not be the same after miami. we will be more stringent on the trolling factor.

Thanks though for the kind words, it makes working this late to put on a convention a pleasure. oh yeah, i need to finish some stuff...back to work ^_^

Ya, I agree.... I could dust off some of my 1-2 year old videos and submit it to try to get a nice prize, but It's no fun to the audience seeing a videos they got sitting at home on their laptops or they’ve seen at X contests... I'm sure there will be some several seeing how high the stakes are here.... No matter the prize, I just can't do that....

I only wish there was more prep time for something like this since there is no hope in having my new project even close to being done with Xmas almost here.

Besides, I'd love a TV like that, but that's not why I compete anyway... Hmmm… wonder who’ll top this prize...

Good luck to the winner, and hopefully he does not have to fly across the country with it home :P

thats too bad, i like your work ^_^ (which is fine since at this point i wont be one of the judges...lol)

actually i have seen most everyones work here. you can still submit expos. which at this point would only be in the expo tracks in the con, and not in the main viewing. but will still get significant audience.

This may be a dumb question (I'm sorta new to the convention scene and all), but by that statement you make it seem as though OtakuCon moves from city to city every year, is that what I'm reading from that?

Excuse me but am I reading this right?

In order to enter a video into the convention, you have to have a registration INTO the convention, which for a one day pass is $25.

So if 500 people enter videos, and 1 person wins a prize which is about 4 grand (maybe more? I think I saw one at walmart for about 3?).

Then you guys JUST ABOUT break even... right?

oh no, its not a dumb question...since im still in the office and have this on my screen i might as well answer as many of them as possible. ^_^

OtakuCon is one of many of the conventions we will be holding around the country. we will be back in miami next year in the same hotel but the name will be Kunicon. the other events are also called kunicon.

www.kunicon.com KUNI = NATION in Japanese

we will be adding more cities to our roster.

thats why we are also having an International Event. you win at Miami Beach, you have a seat to compete in the International Event. to win a $12500 Real Time Editing PC, with mutliple 30" LCD Screens.

this is the first of many wild events.

but this is not the right forum for that topic ^_^.

if your registered to the event for the weekend, then you are registered. if you are not coming to the event and want to compete for a prize in the AMV event then you still need to register, since the AMV contest is Saturday the day pass price is $25. if you just want to submit a video for expo, which really is not on the site (too many expo videos entered already) then you can. I setup extra expo times in the event, but it wont be judged for prizes, and you do not need to register.

well if 500 people enter videos...our contest could run for 41 hours on the average video being 5 minutes, god help us if all 500 turned in 3 files...lol

Sorry, but expensive prizes make me want to run for the door.

Your webmaster might want to add some fine print. Like, "Winner(s) is responsible for shipping costs, medical expenses, and all applicable taxes, federal, state, and local." Unless the con is going to pick all that up, too.

Anyone who wants the specs on the tv, I think this is it. Seems nice enough.

BTW, these tv's must be moved or shipped in a vertical position, as shown in ecamac01's picture.
