Wasn't the AMV contest today? Does anyone know the results from this?

If you look at the program schedule on their website there are two showings another one tomorrow then the winners will be announced afterwards, presumably.

But did anyone get a list of vids that were shown?

The winners were announced at cosplay, but I don't remember them since they only mentioned the creator and title of video, not the anime and music. I remember that the winner of fan favorite was untitled.

Even though there was a showing on Saturday and Sunday, the ballots were due before the the Saturday showing and they weren't distributed on Friday. I'm not sure how that worked out.

Hey, I saw the Tortilla Boy trailer. It got a lot of laughs:) Sorry I don't know who won. I missed it when they annouced it. As for choosing the winners, they chose them in the prelim. round before they even showed the 25 finalists videos in the contest. The only chose for fans was the Fan Fav...and I didn't see the ballots out on Friday and they had to be in before the showing on Sat.

Congrats to the winners :)

This is NOT sour grapes coming from me. This is just my own opinion.

The Supergirl video had absolutely no business being in (and winning) Action-Driven because it was an Upbeat video! Unfortunately, there is no such category in NekoCon's AMV contest. You do not know how much I had to refrain myself from blurting that out loud at the AMV panel on Sunday afternoon because I was sitting next to the editor of that video. If there are enough videos that warrant separate Upbeat and Parody Trailer videos, they should be put into their own category. And even though the editor has the final say as to what category the video should be entered in, the judges/coordinators should advise an editor if he/she is possibly submitting a video into the wrong category.

Personally either Senta Miller or I should have won Action-Driven, because the other three videos weren't all that impressive. I can't remember anything exciting about the first video, the second video just went on and on and on (Enter Sandman is a long song to begin with, but it didn't hold the audience's attention as I could see the faces of the people getting bored as the video went on), and the third video had the unfortunate task of trying to live up to the Hellsing version of the Vater Unser video, but failed miserably.

Again, just my own opinion.

Just out of curiousity, was Advance Wars 3: Evangelion shown? I submitted it as non-competing, so I just wonder if and where they showed it.

It was not shown; moreover, there was no overflow session. Brad DeMoss's two videos (B-Ko's Blues and That'll Do) were also submitted as non-competing (he was staff at Neko this year), but they weren't shown either.

I wish it had been shown as I really enjoyed it at AnimeUSA. It made me want to play Advance Wars 2 again and so I played AW2 during the car ride to Nekocon and while standing in the line for cosplay.

@ Brakus: That's weird. I guess they just didn't have time for videos that didn't compete.

@ Senta: Wow, I really appriciate that :) Glad to hear it sparked your interest to play AW2 again as well!

I think an overflow session would have been great then at least everyone would have been played. When I talked to someone on the staff I was under the impression that they did not expect the amount of submissions that they received. Perhaps they will look into it for next year.
