If all else fails, I have it on DVD back home. HOWEVER, its a Japanese DVD my host mother gave to me when I was in Japan. Iknow there are explanations for this, but to make things short, will I still be able to edit with it?

If your DVD drive is set to region 2, it'll be fine. If there's any special instructions for ripping region 2 discs, I don't know them.
