getting a wav file out of an anime? wats mp2??

ok I know you demux, I can't find that in avidub, and when I demux in tmp I get an mp2 file... wats that?? Is there any other way to get a readable by Premier 6 sound file from a dvd rip?
wat I want is a sound effect from this anime, not something you'd find on an OST BTW :wink: .

MP2s are the predacessors to MP3s basically they are out of date and almost useless, the plus side is that you know everybody can listen to them fine. Virtualdub will often let you convert to wav, otherwise you can burn it to a CD and record it back through recorder as a wav file.

Well actually VirtualDub will export a WAV, but you have to set it to Full Processing before you goto File|Save Wav... otherwise it'll just copy out the audio stream as is.

They're not useless at all, they're the standard audio format for modern MPEG-1 files.

I can't beleive I missed that save wav, thanks klink... was lookin for demux, me and my stoopid technicle terms... btw (AD) I didn't know there was an audio guide, on this sight?? amvs.org just in case you haven't stepped out of your stupor yet... <goes to check> n-nope don't uh... don't see one :shock:

This is probably an MPEG-2 audio file, not to be confused with MPEG-1 Layer 2 the predecessor of MP3 (MPEG-1 Layer 3). This format is generally considered to be of higher quality than MP3.
