Not video software perse, but video related

Postby FirestormXIII » Sun Sep 08, 2002 11:38 am

I wasn't sure where to put a question like this, but it is video related, so here it is.

My question has to do with WinRAR. I'm trying to split up the master of a video I just made so I can put burn it to CD, but i can't figure out how to make WinRAR produce volumes that are limited to 700MB a volume. The only thing I've been able to do is have it produce 1.38MB volumes. I've looked through the WinRAR help guides for this but it's not telling me how I can change the size of the volumes.
Do I have to deal with the many 1.38MB volumes (The master is about 1.2GB) if I want to put it on disc? Or is there another way?

Any help would be much appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Right-click your file

Choose 'WinRar' -> Add to archive

the in the split to volume, bytes box put

700m

This will be interpreted by WinRar as 700 megabytes. I generally split to 699 megabytes (732,954,624 bytes).

Also, make sure you set a recovery record :)

I've never had any luck working with WinRAR. :( However, the newer version of Winzip offer a split file option that seems to be a little easier to work with and could help you in that spli/zip of your remaster. Just a suggestion. :D

AD- 'You da' man', once again :)

MJ-Thanks for the tip, but AD set me straight. I don't use ZIP much anymore simply because RAR compresses better*shrug*. But you da' man too :O
