phpBB (forum code) upgraded

Post by derobert » Sun Sep 05, 2004 2:28 pm

I just upgraded phpBB to 2.0.10. 2.0.10 includes security fixes and performance enhancements. Please let me know if anything goes wrong.

Oh, ok, that explains why it was down for a couple of minutes just now.

Other than that little pause, no problem thus far...

Does that affect the forum?

If so, does that explain disappearing posts?

:?

>_<;;

Never mind the "does it affect the forum question".
Should have read the tittle better.

The second question still stands.

You had some posts missing that were replies to posts where people had flamed. The offending posts were removed and your posts were also removed as they no longer had any context.

This is not a flaw of the forum software.

Thanks for clearing that up AD. 8)
No one wants to start seeing things...
By the way:
That means entire threads can disappear too, right?
Tell me if I'm right or wrong so a discussion about this can end.

I can answer that for you:

Yes. Yes they can. I believe it's not site policy to delete bad threads instead of locking em, but if they degenerate into a flame war, it's as easy as a click of a button to erase them from existence altogether. And it's been done before

(And I know this from being a mod at another phpBB forum)

On the Org we move threads to a special hidden forum instead of deleting them because if someone has done something questionable it's useful to have it around as evidence later on :)

Pretty smart AD, that's what they teach in Business Schools and Law Schools, at least to me.
