If you work with computers at all, OEM is an acronym you should be familiar with. Origina. Equipment Manufacturer. In other words, whoever made it.

In this context, it differentiates from "retail", which is the version of the product sold with extras like pretty packaging, instruction manuals, manufacturer-specific partioning/formatting software, and all sorts of stuff that get thrown on the floor and swept into the dumpster when they end up in the shop of a PC OEM, who know how to plug the things in generally, can google the specs when something goes wrong, and know how to operate fdisk. "OEM versions" of devices are preferred by knowledgeable hobbyists as well as professionals because they're cheaper and don't come with a bunch of junk that you're going to end up throwing out anyway.

Webopedia says it means this.
CNet says this.
Here is a less helpful definition from helpwithpcs.com.

OEM is exactly what Kai Stromler said it is++.

Disk drives do sometimes come with floppy disks, they are tools to format, partition & diagnose the drive.

The BIOS doesn't contain specific drivers. There are bios calls you can make to access the hard drive. But there are no actual DRIVERS in the BIOS. Drivers are specific to the operating system you are using!!!

Zero Serenity is indeed retarded and I'd wish he'd stop posting.

Ugh. I've taken too many IQ tests to know that I'm not a retard. You lack maturity. Your body and soul are a joke. And if you must have somone else do your dirty work, it's a sign of your weakness. I shall not leave. I do what I want in life.

Dude, Mega Man sucks.

Get over it.

Oh yeah, posting incorrect technical info is stupid, too.
