They did hand out pencils at the first amv showing this year but there weren't enough so the people beside you had to share them with you, but Geoff didn't recieve many of them back.

Congratulations to ALL the winners, To Seen for placing 2nd in his Category AND getting best themed video (Score one for the South Jersey editors!), And VicBond for winning his first Otakon (A close victory though... Kusoyaro's video was very good competition as well, I thought)

All in all though, I want to say I'm personally downloading EVERY video on the tracklist this time around. The entire show was in my opinion, full of great videos. It's given me renewed hope of actually getting a video in for next year's con... And yes, I'm shooting for the finals. ^_^

0_o....

How the heck did I get 2nd place? Wow, I feel all kinds of loved ^_^.

Gee, thats one heck of a suprise. Hmmm, Thanks for the info Gene, however, I still want 100% from Geoff whenever he decides to post it. I honestly still believe that William Milberry (Aluminum Studios) should have won the Drama catageory. From what I heard he was a bit unhappy that the Eva/Linkin Park video won. ::shrug:: , I thought it was a crowd pleaser, but like someone said before "You never know with audience voting".

What's with the segregation? I'd say Central Jersey made a pretty good showing as well, what with <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=44708">first place in Upbeat/Rhythm</a> and <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=36860">second place in Humorous/Satirical</a>. 8)

(At least. If any of the other winners are also North/Central Jerseyans, I apologize for not knowing it.)

Problem with handing out penceils was that you have to announce at the beginning of the contest for people to return them and have someone collected then as people leave or else they just take them with them...

In terms of the contest, yest it went fine.. Gnerally I find the audinence will also take into consideration anime they can relate to... This does not mean that the most popular anime will win, but it is an influence... Regardless of the results, everyone hadf fun and it was great to see all the fine videos on the big screen.. That's what is important anyway...

I just didn't want to win in front of such a huge crowd without being there and that with a video I did just for fun which could've been better.

Anyway, congratulations to all the winners and finalists, I'm sure it was a great contest.

Out of couriousity, can anyone tell me how my video was recieved by the audience? It was "Strike On" set to Princess Nine (Baseball stuff)

your video actually made my friend matt go to the dealers room to buy the Perfect Collection edition of Princess Nine.

so i would have to say, one person thought it was bad ass! :)

(now if only i could use AE like some people can...or else my entry would have had more flair in the contest) ^_^;

With Vic, You and Seen, we basically covered *all* of New Jersey. (Least, I think Edison is torwards the north... I dunno) Either way, you guys all represented the homefront damn well. One of the only times I'm proud to be a New Jersey resident!

(Wow, sad huh?)

VegettoEX and I are also from New Jersey, and we were also finalists in the contest, so... yeah, more Jersey coverage! There are more people from there than I originally thought.

All the talk about Jersey, but eventhough I didn't win I have to say that I think I made a good stand not only for my home state of Maryland, but Pasadena right outside of Baltimore. Anyway, I really enjoyed seeing my amv on the big screen, plus I was moved that the crowd interacted with my video, clapping along during the black and white part of the video. This here gave me even more insperation to strive for the finals next year. I hope I can do it again. I know I can if I put my mind to it. I want to relive the experience at Otakon XII next year. Well everyone enjoy the amvs that are currently out from the contest and keep checking for the ones that aren't in the future.

Remember making amv's is about having fun. Tell the story as you want it told. Everyone has there own technique just go with what you feel is right and if a scene isn't right then its not right. Don't force it, don't rush it. Keep your same motivation throughout the whole video and don't lose sight of it. Well everyone I'm glad that the amv contest was great this year I look forward to more contest in the future.

I was disappointed. The Eva video was very well done, but it was nothing new. I'd like to see more original and creative or artistic videos winning. Naturally I would have liked to have won but I would have also been really happy if Versailles Paradise had won. That video definitly required some thought to make. Unfortunatly audiences tend to gravitate towards things that they are familiar with and are easy to understand rather than thinking about the video before judging it.

I also would have liked to have seen Scintilla's Eva/Bebop opening win because it was very unique - it was something new to my eyes which is something that I prefer to see in any type of fan art. I was happy Vic's video won though.

One of the best things about fan art in my opinion is seeing new things. While well done, the Eva/Linkin Park video didn't really represent anything new or an aspect of Eva that hasn't already been explored several times.

I would like to congratulate all of the winners and everyone who made it into the contest. I heard there were 209 videos sent int - being one of the 15% to make it in is no easy task.

I agree the Eva video didn't show anything new, but I voted for it personally because it presented it extremely powerfully. Don't get me wrong, Every video was just as awesome as the next this year, that was just how I felt.
