Or I don't like the anime or music a video is using so I don't need to see the video to know it's crap already (Rolls eyes again). Unless you see all the videos, you don't know how surprised you may be by something you didn't think you liked. (And thus the sign of a good AMV).

Yeah, um, like that one video at the prescreenings that was NGE to Linkin Park... we expected it would be horrible, but it was actually one of the better drama videos there. Just goes to show.

However, with the number of good quality entries we had this year, I feel confident that there aren't going to <i>be</i> any "crap" videos in the finals, so everyone ought to be watching them all anyway.

I tell everyone to not even bother viewing the AMV screenings usually as that most of the time the quality videos are only in the contest. It's good to hear there were a good amount of quality videos this time around.

Uh, don't the results of the prescreenings dictate which videos make it into the contest?

I think EBwiz is referring to the Overflow AMV screenings at the convention, rather than the Evaluation pre-screenings before the convention.

IMHO skipping the Overflows just means you don't see the good videos that didn't fit in the contest. 12 hours of submissions = 4 hours of 'better than average' AMVs (by definition). The contest only holds 2 hours, so there's at least 2 hours of good AMVs in there that you're missing. Plus, the aggregate preferences of the prescreening audience may not match your tastes 100% -- maybe all the videos that you'd really enjoy aren't even in this year's contest.

At least let your friends decide what to watch for themselves.

With all due respect, I don't think my friends are going to hang on to my every word like I'm an omnipotent God... at least, I HOPE they don't...

Hm... Now you're making me rethink my choice of comrades. Good job.

Sorry for the double post. Again, no edit button.

Just wanted to add that not all the videos in the overflow and what not are bad, There's a few in there that just plain don't make it due to time restraints like Cyber said, so nobody think I'm a nazi... please. ^_^'

It's a heart-rending responsibility to have friends like that -- one time I had this friend who thought I was an omnipotent god and he died after he didn't go to the bathroom for seven weeks... <sobs> Because I forgot to tell him to go! <sobs> All because of ME! He trusted me to tell him what to do, and I killed him!!! <collapses in hysterics>

And I'd thought I'd been doing so well by telling him not to stick his arm into alligators' mouths up to his shoulder. It just goes to show you what the real priorities in this life are. <sobs>

Seacrest, out. Pax. YMMV.

Hey, quick question for anyone who entered to the Otakon AMV contest:

Is anyone going out to this get-together on Thursday night? I was thinking about going and wanted to know if anyone else was ^_^.

The AMV screening rooms were really full most of the time last year from what I remember. A good number of people will still probably see your video.

That whole afternoon check-in time for rooms is a realy pain in the butt too :?

I know I said I couldn't before, but by hook or, quite literally, by crook (don't ask), I am going to be there.

However, since I didn't pre-reg, I won't be getting my badge until tomorrow. Does anyone have plans to wait in line all night? (I know some folks did last year - crazy fools! 8) )
