Guides and AMVapp Public Alpha/Beta Test

OK, I've moved all the guide betas over to the org to save my site's bandwidth a little.

I've updated a variety of things. New stuff includes setup guides for premiere pro and windows movie maker 2.

I'm working on the export guides now and will get working on post-processing guides asap.

Once those are done, and Neuron2 finished the upsampling in DGDecode, the final amvapp build will be made.

The guides will go public no too long after. Still need some alternative codec stuff from Tab but that can easily be added in later if needs be.

Continued feedback is appreciated.

one note, the link in the old Guides section on the site is not updated and still points to the old one. Just a bug to fix when you get around to it. .... its easy enough to find with some looking.

I hit enter too quick. I wanted to say I think you did a good job on the new guides AD, they are easy to follow and are finally updated to reflect the latest software releases accurately. We appreciate all your work on them ^_^

Ok, I've pretty much started over to use your new guide (I felt like giving it a whirl) and so far it works great. I uninstalled everything old first, so that might have helped. One problem with the AMVapp, though. Was it supposed to include DVD2AVI? Because if it does, it didn't install to the AMVapp directory in C:\Program Files.

About the readability: I can understand everything just fine. Looking good here.

If you read through the new guide you'll see that DVD2AVI is now known as DGindex - part of the DGMPEGdec package.

Sorry for the double post, but I thought it seemed a little odd that I would talk about readability, but then mention something in the guides I didn't read. So I will go into a little more detail here:

Even thought the guides say to use DVD Decryptor, I still use Smartripper (at least for now). Because of that, I only skimmed the DVD ripping, and skipped the part about DGindex. So, I guess a more accurate representation of the readability of the guide goes to the following sections:

Also, by good readability, I meant that I could read it and understand what was going on with little trouble. And I am still a bit of a noob in this area, so good work.

You should really read the stuff on DGindex... if you want the speed and stability improvements that it provides you should use it.

Not to mention you can write a template and it will create avs files based off your template as well as an excellent d2v file. That saves a lot of time. I've been hooked on DGIndex ever since AD released the new amvapp that included it.

This will output a DV file. It is lossless, so not as good an export option as Huffyuv

Are some of the pages in their "final" (or almost final) version ?
I'd really like to translate the WMM related pages and the XVid encoding guide into french ASAP, as some non-english-speaking people over there really need those

I just don't know... probably.

However, it is very likley that new things will be added as and when I receive feedback about them... but I think they work now so I don't see any major reason not to translate those parts now.
